EQS [Renders] 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
The picture is becoming somewhat more clear...:

Ass looks good but that face is just like the CLS which I’m not a fan of.

You mean to tell me you looked at the above picture of the EQS and it reminded you of the below? I mean MAYBE the Nissan corporate front end is vaguely reminscent of the EQ grille treatment but wow. The human brain is utterly fascinating. :eusa_thin

Ahhh... Second time in a couple of days someone who clearly likes a lot a certain brand quotes me because he does not take it too well a critique towards said brand.

Instead of trying to pass an opinion you disagree with as something ridiculous, you might prefer to consider which are the key characteristics of a Prius/Leaf, and then compare them to the traditional design elements of MBs (hint: short tail vs long tail, capsule shape vs traditional 3 box design, upwards bonnet vs long and straight bonnet...).

But yeah, the human brain is utterly blablabla.

From under the side windowsills downwards, it actually looks great. Nice, high-crest wheelarches with wheels pushed out to the corners. And the flanks appear to be clean and smooth, devoid of vents, intakes, etc. Nice ass too, with the full width taillight band.

But those "pushed fowards" A-pillar bases are difficult to grow accustomed to. I reckon that I'd better get used to that particular design element as the chances of it becoming commonplace on large, luxurious sedans/sedoupes are considerable.

No, not a fanboy here actually and I've expressed several times that I'm not sure this EQS is going to turn out well. I merely took your comment at face value- the Nissan Leaf doesn't even have a tail. It's a traditional upright hatchback design through and through, hence why I was surprised it was giving you "vibes." As for the Prius, now that you've explained I can see where you're coming from although the Prius' continues to utilize the Kammback to greater effect. I suppose this is why I perhaps didn't draw a connection between the two.

If the final design looks anything like that, Im totally sold to it. That looks really good and much more exciting than the S-Class.

Electric Vehicle Architecture for the innovative enhancements to classic Mercedes-Benz values

"Our EQ models will meet the highest standards and also set standards in many disciplines. The EQS, with its more than 700 km of electric range according to the WLTP, the most intelligent MBUX in its most beautiful form and its certified air filtering system, which achieves the air quality of an operating room, shows only a few examples of the technological innovations of our electric platform.”

Christoph Starzynski, Vice-President Electric Vehicle Architecture und Head of Mercedes-EQ at Mercedes-Benz, responsible for electric vehicles

The new Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA), which will celebrate its première with the EQS luxury sedan next year, will not only provide the technical basis for four other all-electric models, but will also incorporate technical milestones from Mercedes-EQ which fully meet the expectations our customers have of progressive luxury cars.

One example is the optional interior air filtering system of the coming EQS electric sedan. This highly-efficient suspended particulate filter (HEPA) uses parts of the space freed up by the absence of a combustion engine beneath the bonnet. With a volume of almost ten litres and a size of just over four A4 pages, it enables the highest of air quality in the interior. Even fine dusts of the class PM2.5, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and unpleasant odours are filtered from the interior ambient air. With the HEPA filter, the EQS achieves an air quality comparable to that in cleaning and operating rooms, and thereby adds another dimension to safety as a hallmark of the brand. The effectiveness of the system is also officially certified according to DIN EN 1822. This is first time ever in the automotive sector.

Solutions such as this embody the hallmarks of Mercedes-EQ. New freedoms, together with technological progress, lead to solutions that, taken together, are more than just innovation.

Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler Group

"A well-written code is like a work of art. And we will offer our best software solution to date in the new EQS. The underlying AI is revolutionary, and the learning system beyond that is more impressive with every use. With MBUX, we are not only well-positioned today, as the complete over-the-air update capability will continue to amaze in the future. This approach also opens up unbelievable creative scope, which appeal to me personally as a programmer."

I really hope this is a game changer for them and true leader in the field, if not Mercedes can forget it.

Well we already know it's not a performance car so don't look for it to lead there and Tesla will still lead in range. It won't have much competition in the true luxury realm though which is good news. The BMW i7 certainly won't be a bad effort but hopefully the space utilization advantage in the EQS puts it firmly in front.
