EQS [Renders] 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Truth be told... Some might like these proportions, but IMO this has nothing to do against the Taycan IMO.

Can't see any other brand coming close to Porsche on this regard with their EVs.

The Audi will smash this EQS with Tesla S interior.

Both Porsche as well as Audi have taken a somewhat more conservative design approach with their "J1" BEVs'. The architectures and visuals do not shout "BEV !" and especially the eTron GT displays a longer bonnetted, cabin-back silhouette. The more pod-like EQS, Lucid Air, etc. represent an unmistakable electric vehicle design school of thought. BMW appears to be embarking on a more conservative path with its' i7 while Audis' upcoming "Landjet" ( "A9 eTron" ?) may adopt many elements from the progressive Aican concept car. Both concepts will find their supporters (Personally, I prefer the "J1" route), but in the end, I reckon that more cabin-forward, glasshouse dominated designs will gain a foothold.

eqs vs taycan

Direct visual comparison indicates that the Taycan is a 4 door sportscar, while the EQS is a sedoupe (with a bit more emphasis on "sed" rather than "oupe").
Nonetheless, the EQS doesn't look bad in these particular shots.

Looks like two Taycans fit in one EQS

Wow check how much higher the EQS is than the Taycan in this shot. The shape of the EQS hides the size of the car very well. In the spy shots it doesnt appear to be almost S-class in size, but only when lined up next to some other cars in the same size bracket, like the Taycan here it is amazing that you will then realize its not a smaller car.

Ballpark estimates regarding the EQS' exterior dimensions indicate approx. 5100mm length, 1920mm width and 1430mm height. Should these figures be relatively accurate, the EQS exceeds the Taycan by some 135mm in length and 60mm in height-but is some 45mm narrower.

i had the opportunity to see one of the prototypes and i should say it is at least as large as the new s class, so not less than 1.954 mm.

Interesting information indeed.

I assume you are referring to the EQS' width with the 1954mm figure. Incidentally, what were your subjective impressions upon scrutinizing the EQS prototype ?
What impressed you most ? And what didn't you like ?

Looking at these photos the EQS is clearly much taller than 143 cm, so these estimates does not seem very realistic. The Taycan is 138 cm high and based on these photos I would guess the EQS must be 150-155 cm high.

exactly, i was talking about width, sorry.
It was last year In November.
It was very heavily camouflated, but really impressed about how width it was. May be because the car is, for me, lower than a typical sedan.
I repeat, a lot of camouflage so not able to appreciate the real car lines as we can see today.
Overhangs really short also.
Looking forward to see the real car, even if i am a bit worry about the front.

The height estimate of 1500-to-1550mm would be, were it accurate, quite surprising. Remember, the W223 is 1503mm tall-and that, to me, already constitutes a very tall modern sedan. I'm speculating 1430-1450mm in height for the EQS. We will know more within the course of the next several months.

Seemingly they are getting rid of the connected headlights, it’s clearly visible in the video when they just stopped at the charger, I tried to replicate the DRL shape with orange, and it very much resembles the new S

It also seems that the extreme slope of the bonnet makes it (the bonnet as well as the car) appear shorter than it actually is. From certain angles, the car is not at all unsimilar to "more conventional" sedoupes. Not a bad thing methinks. Visualizing the car in elegant metallic hues with cool satin silver or silver/anthracite 21" or 22" rims provides the image of a very handsome automobile.

Interesting is also what appears to be large piece of plastocladding veiling the C-pillars. While the EQS is obviously a liftback, a bit more than a nuance of notch seems evident.
