i personally love the stance of EQS![]()
Hopefully with the EQS , MB can show that German Automaker is capable of making GREAT electric carWhile continuing to remain heavily swirlyfoiled and plastocladded, some of these photoshot angles display an automobile that may be visually quite exciting.
This being said, M-B has an all-the-more daunting task at hand now that the Lucid Air is commanding the headlines. At least on paper, the Lucid is looking invincible. And then there's Tesla with a heavily revamped Model S waiting in the aisle. Certainly, M-B has the resources to pump out EQS' as quickly as salmon can spawn eggs-provided that the demand for the car exists. Not to forget that M-B has a formidable loyalist base. The battle for supremecy in the luxury BEV segment will be fascinating. Question is: Will the newly crowned king speak German ?

The dash is different from the S class. The carbon or wood piece us really big and flows from the bottom part of the screen and the side vents won't be like the stunning ones in the S..
The EQS will have an inferior interior to the S class the same way the Taycan has an inferior interior to the Panamera. Higher cost on Electric powertrains means cost cutting on the interior.
Totally disagree. Electric powertrains are much, much cheaper than an ICE powertrain (in everything-design/engineering, production costs). The EQS will have an inferior interior to the S class the same way the Taycan has an inferior interior to the Panamera. The egg shape vette have tangible benefits like a huge open air cabin like we have seen in a million BEV concepts but not in any production cars.Sigh......terrible looking so far.

Exterior or interior materials?I totally feel that Mercedes is going to miss the boat on sustainable materials. I suspect they'll be playing major catch up on that come facelift time.
Hard to believe, but this is the S-Class. There shouldn't be any cost cutting. The EQS will have an inferior interior to the S class the same way the Taycan has an inferior interior to the Panamera. Higher cost on Electric powertrains means cost cutting on the interior.

Even only the exhaust gas treatment costs more than an EV drivetrain (the battery not included, because it is not a part of the drivetrain). They are more expensive to legacy carmakers who are not building them in-house but rather sourcing motors from Bosch and batteries from LG and then a BMS from a 3rd supplier and then getting software teams to get all 3 components to talk to one another And then developing training and service manuals and sharing that content with thousands of dealerships across the globe. Overall cost is higher than mating a ZF transmission and your own engine that is consistent throughout your entire product range that you’ve been selling for 100 years.
