The rear lights are going to be as polarising as the CLS and A Class.

Hmmm, I think precisely because of the CLS and A it won't be as polarizing because they have soften the ground for acceptence. But, then again, those in the market for mid-sized SUV, how many of them are familiar with them?

2019 Mercedes GLE Dashboard Revealed by Spy Video, Has Something New

From the new A-Class hatchback to the CLS four-door coupe, Mercedes has done pretty much the same thing with the dashboard of all its cars. The all-new GLE-Class will still have two large screens, but the setup is refreshingly new.
The old GLE's interior was a hot mess of buttons. And we would have been happy if the designers just copy-pasted the E-Class. But they didn't. The screens sit inside the dash instead of on top and are framed by two oversized air vents. And is it just me or are they much bigger too?

The air vents below that are square-shaped and probably have ambient lighting in the middle. A few days ago, some official sketches of the dash were released, but they honestly don't do it justice.

The new GLE is scheduled to be revealed this fall and will ride on the same MHA platform as the GLC. It's going to have better stuff, from the engines to the suspension. Multiple setups will be offered, like a high-riding off-road suspension or one with adaptive anti-roll bars for handling.

The engines are all going to be shared inline-6 units shared with other Benz models. That means the big Mercedes SUV will finally be able to compete with BMW in this department. No more lack-luster 3.5-liter V6; no more agricultural diesel.

What you will get is more power and torque. Instead of just the GLE 43, you're going to have the GLE 450 with roughly the same power and a GLE 53 model with 435 HP. One or maybe two plug-in hybrid models will also be introduced.

Every system will come with a 9-speed automatic, including the hardcore Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S with its 600+ HP 4-liter V8. About the only mystery left is if this big SUV will once again have a four-cylinder option to replace the current GLE 250 d (204 HP).

They're channelling the ghosts of W163 past with some of the angles, and the front has a hint of it around the grille shape (and the D pillar design trait)

Funny this news outlet and others keep saying the GLC is on the MHA platform. It is not.

I think I'm officially over these videos from that entity. The introduction is longer than the actual part where we see the car.

This is not a problem at all. The starship Enterprise is still pretty awesome design after 50 years :)

But that original design looks sort of silly this day and age (Enterprise) ;)

i wonder if they will keep the brilliantblau/BrilliantBlue paint for the next GLE

I thought that last video had a lot of good shots.
You can really see what it's going to look like as they had it with all different wheel from standard to sport. Looks good even with the basic wheel, which is encouraging. I'm still skeptical about the size reports i had heard from corporate.
they said the new E had more leg room and the previous definitely had a better back seat regardless of what measurements they report. With the competition level in this segment, MB can't be shy about building large accommodating back seats. That's what SUV buyers want. The article said it's on the same platform as the GLC, which doesn't make sense, since that is the C platform and the E is a different platform.

Yeah I'm really hoping they get it right. The sales potential is enormous considering how well the current (aged) GLE sells now. It should have been on sale in a few months for Fall, but it looks like it will be an early 2020 model for Spring 2019. I think the GLS will be an even bigger home run.

The C, E, and GLC are all on the MRA platform. They’re wrong regardless, as GLE and GLS will be on the [closely related] MHA platform.

I actually don't think so. My major reservation about the CLS taillights is not their shape but how their shape corresponds with the overall shape of the rear. This is not gonna be problematic here. And my criticism about the A class is that the taillights are totally generic and really could belong to any other brand, even when taking into account the graphics. This is not the case in the GLE.

From what I can see so far, the design strikes me as being one of M-Bs´ more cohesive recent exercises. A welcome element of tension by way of the crease under the window sills in dialogue with the ascending sculpture theme on the lower 1/3 of the flank.

The Panamericana grill is designated for the AMG packages and I think it will be the way to go this time around.
The headlight shape will be nicely outlined with it and the shut-line finished off like it should be on every modern Merc.

I did not like what I was seeing at the beginning. Starting to appreciate the details now.
The GLE, in AMG activewear, will look masculine, muscular and very aggressive.
This thing sits upright/ alert and looks like it is ready to throw a punch.
