That review sounds more like an advertorial.

GLE better than a Cayenne is a bad joke simply because Mercedes doesn't have any car in its lineup better than a Porsche driving wise.

My AMG GT is more fun to drive and looks cooler than a 911 but the later is better in every aspect, ride quality, driving tech, etc.

So "EVERY" doesn't include looks and fun to drive?

2019 Mercedes GLE Can't Keep The Camouflage On For Much Longer

The road to reveal has been long and exhausting.

Judging by the light amount of camouflage this prototype was carrying around, it likely means Mercedes is on the verge of introducing the next-generation GLE. “Camouflage” might not be the proper term since the near-production prototype only had a piece of body-colored film on the taillights along with a white piece of plastic on the front bumper. There was also some disguise on the headlights, but we can still take a good look at those intricate full-LED clusters.

Keen-eyed readers will notice there are some interesting logos plastered around the car and these appear to look like cameras. You can see them in corners of the windshield and rear glass, as well as on the C-pillar. It’s also a bit puzzling as to why the prototype was missing the three-pointed star badge at the front where we can easily observe the radar serving a multitude of purposes, including for the adaptive cruise control.

Developed from the ground up, the revamped GLE has only two or three bolts in common with the outgoing model, and although not immediately noticeable in the video, it’s 3.1 inches (80 millimeters) longer. The bump in size will be reflected by the increase in length of the wheelbase, which in turn will pay dividends in terms of legroom for rear passengers.

Mercedes has teased the overhauled interior set to represent a major departure compared to the current GLE, not just in terms of appearance and layout, but also as far as the amount of tech crammed into the posh cabin. The new generation will borrow a few tricks from the S-Class to do battle with other tech-heavy midsize luxury SUVs, such as the 2019 BMW X5.

Expect the wraps to come off in a matter of weeks, ahead of a market launch likely slated for the end of the year in Europe.

What a weird yet arrogant comment. The 48 Volt tech seems to be a perfect solution for the ever increasing power hungry tools in a car and BMW compleatly missed that out.

Every new BMW from the G20 on will have 48v, if the media is to be believed.
I agree they were late, but then again, the engines were good enough to hold it off until there was more to update.... I am not sure if the new V8 from the M850i even has an 48v system though. I believe this is not the case.

On topic, this new GLE is shaping up beautifully, and will be a worthy addition to the segment, which arguably is the most competitive and 'hot' segment of them all.....

I don’t believe the M850i has 48v system, but will have to wait and see if it will be competitive without it.

Interior looks nice and probably for the target customer just right.
That screen looks quite disgusting though, with all those greasy fingerprints.
I’ll keep on repeating myself, but I just can’t understand the need for touchscreens in cars with this pricetag. Just looks awfull after being used.

Eww I don't like that floating screen sitting on top of the vents. Yuck. Hopefully it will look much better when officially presented.

Those plastic vents look cheapish on the side of the screens in all black. Hope the official pics look better but it does seem quite odd when their is 4 vents in the lower part of the wood trim strip as well and then an odd square one on the passenger side. The grab handles in the center console look great and I like that they covered in leather as well. The touch screen looks terrible with finger print marks all over it. I'm surprised why Mercedes dont use a screen that has less of a sheen finish. But this is now becoming a common thing amongst the 3 Big Germans replacing the toggle wheel for touch screens

Have a look at the huge, fake vent on the right of the "doublet" instrument panel - again, un-shrouded - it doesn't look good at all to these eyes.

Does anyone else notice the headlight switch panel is straight from the A class and it looks really cheap and ugly?

This is worrying.

I’m not worried at all. The right vent is definitely going to bother some people at first presentation but the overall interior when the official pics are ready will impress.

Not a fan of fake HVAC vents in recent Audis and VWs and not a fake vents in MBs. Just a magnet for dust and grime. However, everything seems to be a big step up from the current GLE.

Fingers crossed.
