Confirmed for 2017 launch
The next generation Audi A6 has been digitally envisioned by Theophilus Chin with styling influences from the Prologue concept.

Audi's new design chief Marc Lichte provided a glimpse of the company's revised styling language with the Prologue concept unveiled at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show. Shortly after the vehicle made its debut, Audi specified the first model to use the new look will be the flagship A8 set to arrive in 2016 followed shortly by the new A6 (and A7) which has been rendered here by Theophilus Chin.

The A6's design has already been completed alongside the 2016 A8 & 2017 A7 and Lichte said there will be more visual differences between one another. It is believed the overhauled A6 and A7 models will ride on the MLB Evo platform which debuted a short while ago in the second-gen Q7 from where the cars will likely inherit most of the engines while the new architecture should enable a significant weight loss.

Moderators sorry posted in the wrong thread. Should be A6.

The design for the next-generation Audi A6 has already been signed off, design chief Marc Lichte has revealed.

The new saloon and estate range is set to launch in 2017, and its design will be inspired by the Prologue concept car seen at the recent Los Angeles motor show.

Lichte, along with technical chief Ulrich Hackenberg, has promised much greater visual differentiation between future Audi models.

The design for the new A6 was done alongside the next-generationA7 (due 2017) and A8 (due late 2016) to ensure the designs were suitably different and not just scaled-up and scaled-down versions of the same car.

The Prologue concept car was done after the future production models, Lichte claimed, to ensure that its design was relevant to the future and would not over-promise and under-deliver.

The new A6 will be underpinned by the second-generation MLB platform, which will appear first on the Q7 SUV early next year before being rolled out across a whole range of Volkswagen Group products sized from the Audi A5 and upwards.

Its arrival in 2017 is timely, its launch coming in the months after that of next-generation versions of its two biggest rivals, the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class.

A new Jaguar XF is also in the works in the executive saloon class and will beat all of its next-generation rivals to market. It will be revealed at the New York motor show in April 2015 before going on sale in the UK later in the summer.

I doubt it will be that close to the concept. If it ends up being as close to this render this car will be a looker.

It looks good from the front with the Prologue look but the rear lights in my own opinion don't look great and definitely have a resemblance to the late Saab 9-5

I m opposite actually. I think the rear is a little generic but inoffensive, but the front is starting to look grotesque with that open mouth. Like it's collecting plankton or something while driving.

The grille shown with the Prologue concept is probably a pretty exaggerated preview of what's coming. It indeed is way too big to be copy-pasted on production cars like that.

I think the grille and the rearlights are the features we are most likely going to see in the upcomming Audi lineup.

2017 Audi A6 comes into focus
By Michael Gauthier

New details are starting to emerge about the 2017 Audi A6.

Set to battle the redesigned BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class, the 2017 A6 will reportedly feature a high-tech interior and a semi-autonomous driving system which will enable the model to drive itself at speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph). The car is also slated to feature a new air suspension which uses a camera to scan the road for imperfections so it can adjust accordingly.

Performance specifications remain shrouded in secrecy but Autobild is reporting the model will be offered with an assortment of engines including upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinders and a 4.0-liter V8 TDI that develops more than 400 PS (294 kW). There could also be a plug-in hybrid variant that uses a 2.0-liter TSFI petrol engine and a 122 PS (90 kW) electric motor.

The next-generation A6 sedan will reportedly go on sale in July of 2017 with Avant and Allroad variants following approximately nine months later.

Brilliant! The grille now doubles up in function as a filter feeder too...

Audi should bring out a A6 coupe or a larger coupe in the style of the TT to rival the E-class coupe and 6 series, it would certainly boost their image in this class. What happened to the Sport Quattro concept, will they bring a production version out?

I hope much of the Prologue design will find its way into a production version. This is referred to exterior and interior design. :)
