Megane Renault breaks Nürburgring record with Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R


The Renault Mégane, also spelled without the acute accent as Megane, is a small family car produced by Renault since 1996. It is the successor to the Renault 19.

Renault has broken the lap record for front-wheel drive production cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R, eclipsing Seat's previous record by some four seconds.

Impressive, but the car that made the lap was striped almost on the Mk II Megane R26.R level. The 275 that they're going sell is not as light, but perhaps we see an ultralight ".R" before the new gen Megane debuts.

Different driver, different time. Those times you quoted are Sportauto times and HvS only have one lap to go. Renault driver is doing lap after lap so he knows the car outside to inside. Seat had the previous record for FWD, less than 8 minutes but also not made by Sportauto.

Of course... but still ultra impressive for a FWD 275HP car :)
