Random Thoughts...

Today, I decided that I will never buy a car with an electronic handbrake. Never!

After a long time, I had some massive sideways fun. I generally drive like a grandpa, but today it rained heavily, the tarmac was very slippery and the roads were empty. I found a round-about, with no traffic at all, and circled it a few times sideways. And all that with a beige Volvo. Traditional handbrake is a must.

:D

I'm entering a varicocele surgery in 4 hours. A minor risk surgery, but any pray or good vibre will be greatly appreciated (y)

There with you, mind and heart my friend. Keep the faith and all will go just perfect! ;)

Great news! Had no doubts, yet delighted and happy all went perfect:) Welcome back!

So as some of you know, I'm back in school right now. Also some of you may know that I was rather adamant about not coming here (GCF) often as I needed to focus on the road ahead.

Well, it goes without saying that I've visited here. All too often, probably. But I like it here. I enjoy talking about automobiles, or of what little I know about it. And there are times when I'm not overly fond about talking/reading about cars. But that's OK too. There are other threads outside the auto section. I mean, it's well-documented about how frequently I've posted in the Beer Thread! :)

I guess, what I'm trying to say is this place is a nice reprieve from the daily grind. It's nice to read some insight into something I did not know about, especially from the experts, engineers, etc. I like that we can be civil without being overly "fanboyish" about stuff.

Well, enough of the gushy stuff, back to the books.

It's cold here. It's so cold that my driver's lock froze and I can't unlock my Clio from the driver's side. Thank God it's not so cold, so that both locks would freeze. At least, I can unlock it from the other side. Oh, who am I kidding, the damn lock broke again...

And on top of that, I don't have an idle anymore. I either have my foot on the throttle, or the engine goes off. Gotta fix that as well. Or I can keep driving with a constant heel-and-toe technic :D

lol, time to retire the Clio Giannis! btw, share some pics of it. We hear so much about it, yet the only pic you have shared with us, is that of its aged odometer reading.

Nah, I'm not going to retire it. It's too much fun (for me). Over the years, I have tried to live with more modern city cars: I have tried the Clio II, the Clio III, the Panda, the 206 and more. The only one that I liked was the 206, but it's not the best time to buy a car right now. I'm sure you have heard how hard our economy hit rock bottom :D

BTW, I need a new cold start valve. The good thing is that it costs around 10€.

As for pics, I'll take a few for you. :) Until then:

I'm having the alternator belt and cold start valve replaced today, so it will last for at least another 6 months :D

Done. Now I think I need a new radiator, I have a leak. If the sealant additive I tried won't work, I won't be able to avoid the new radiator. I did have it replaced again, but it was either 8 or 9 years ago. Ah, time goes by so slowly :D

Oh, I drove several times one of those when a friend of mine owned it a few summers ago. I used to call it the teapot. Almost nothing worked on that car, neither the speedo, nor the steering wheel (I had to constantly turn a bit the wheel to the left in order to keep it righ).

But credit to you mate, I really smiled when I was driving it.

So, today I feel like an idiot. A complete and utter idiot. The man who can be seen with a suit and a beige coat covering his hands at 0:39 in this video:

is the former Mayor of Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece. He was elected 3 times, times 4 year per election, that's 12 years of being the Mayor. Today he was sentenced to life, for setting up one of the biggest, if not the biggest corruption network inside a local administration. He was accused of embezzlement of tens of million euros.

F@#$ me sideways...
