Random Thoughts...

I think it's time... to sell my old E-Class. I'm going to miss her.

What's going to keep you from thinking of her?

:D
The fact that it's the first Mercedes-Benz I owned. Also knowing this was the last iteration of an E-Class designed under design chief Bruno Sacco.. The comfortable ride which feels more like a 7 Series than any of the other ones that followed... But even though she's in great shape and going to be 15 soon, I haven't driven her in over a year now, pretty much since I moved.

That goal that Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored yesterday against England, that bicycleta over the head from 35m.... That was the sickest football goal I have ever seen, and probably the whole world too! Sick!!

Idiots that don't know how big their car is. This happend yesterday morning, after an old Ford Transit failed to realise how norrow the road is. I was stopped waiting for him to pass (it was a narrow two direction road) and when he thought he had passed me, he turned a bit left towards the middle of the road, hitting me in the rear bumper.

I am very very annoyed.

Hope you got all his details, and he apologized for his stupidity.

Yeap, his insurance is paying for the damages. He was also very polite which helps a lot in such situations!

Better late than never, my friend. I am studying thermodynamics, material mechanics and electricity mechanics like crazy, as in December I'll take a series of test, in order to get accepted in the Mechanical Engineering department of the local university. It's a 5 years Diploma course (Bachelor + Master equivalent) and if things go well, in 3 or 4 years I'll also be a mech engineer. Given the fact that I have a Diploma in Civil Engineering (also 5 years, BA + Msc eq.) I can skip the first 2 years.

BTW, completely agree with your post!
And the tests start next Monday, way earlier that I expected. I guess, I am kind of @#$%#$ :D

Ok Giannis, is that your car? If so what happened to it?

You would think with a parking space that is almost 6 meters in length, people will have absolutely no trouble parking their cars within the lines, well think again.

This girl took forever to park the car. She got out, had a look, thought her parking was alright, and then left. I am quite scared to know that I have to share the road with drivers like them.

I decided that after 22 years of ownership, it needed some more maintainance other than oil and spurk plugs :D

So, I had the engine and gearbox removed and thoroughly cleaned. I replaced the clutch, disassembled the gearbox, cleaned it, installed new ball bearing for the main shaft, new seals and bolted it back together. I also cleaned all the pipes from the cooling system, and then the heating (of the cabin) system, which was not really working the last few years. I also had my valves adjusted, as they have to be manually adjusted every few years.

I also wanted to change the bushings from the rear axle, but it took me a week for the above, and I need the car tomorrow. I took it back today (after a week) and I'll change the bushings next week probably.

So, why remove the engine, is the logical question. Actually, it's easier to remove the hood and then the engine/gearbox, than work underneath the car and remove the front subframe.

:)

^ Nice, so have you noticed an improvement in performance?
Given that the clutch had about 334691km on it (I had never replaced it) it slipped every time you thought of actually touching the gas pedal, but given that I use the car to go to work, most of the time, I didn't really bother to have it fixed.

So, with the new clutch, you can actually overtake other cars :D

The adjustment of the valves also changed significantly the sound of the engine, it seems to be more "nervous" and quick now, but I only did 10km with it today. As far as performance is concerned, I only floored the 2nd gear once, all day today.

In a couple of days, when I'll have done more km with it, I'll have a better idea.

:)
