Guys here is something I wanted to talk about for a while, it is killing me. As some know, that I am a telecom engineer but no one knows, that I hate FINANCE people with passion. They have ruined the world and made it a worse place to live in. I know driving companies to reduce costs is a must to survive, but they killed passion, they driven innovative solutions at a cost but not innovation for the love of the product itself. I don't know if apple are marketing this to mislead the customers or not, but to mention that their new iPhone5 cost more to manufacture is pure genius and shows passion in what they do. I have attended several training from different instructors (usually professors from MIT, or even Harvard, arranged by work), they all almost agreed that the world most powerful positions are held by CFOs not CEOs. CFOs can ruin a whole company's future and most of them they don't know how to price a product nor where to invest. Horrible.
2nd thing, I hate where education is heading, I don't know if this is the case for your country but people started to forget what they love to do and rather decided to study what will earn them more money. This isn't my idea but I had this in mind loooong time back before even going for college. I wanted to study mechanical engineering with car engines in mind, but at that time there were no jobs for such profession in my country. I will end up in oil rigs or somewhere that I don't like. Listen to Sir Robinson, it will take you few minutes, he is speaking the truth.

Better late than never, my friend. I am studying thermodynamics, material mechanics and electricity mechanics like crazy, as in December I'll take a series of test, in order to get accepted in the Mechanical Engineering department of the local university. It's a 5 years Diploma course (Bachelor + Master equivalent) and if things go well, in 3 or 4 years I'll also be a mech engineer. Given the fact that I have a Diploma in Civil Engineering (also 5 years, BA + Msc eq.) I can skip the first 2 years.

That is a big question Doc. Family, scholarship and many reasons if I want to justify it, but if I want to go for it, I guess nothing can really stop me.

On my off days, I like to do a little research on some of the extinct plants and animals that we are never going to see. I found this one to be quit exotic for a number of reasons. It was called the Tasmanian Tiger (or thylacine). What makes this animal so unique is that it was the largest known carnivores marsupial of modern times. (marsupial because this tiger had a pouch much like the Kangaroo, but unlike the kangaroo, it had a pouch for both sexes) I did a little research on youtube to see if I could find one on video, (lo and behold!) The one on video is said to be the very last one that was captured and put in a zoo. It was filmed in 1933 and died 3 years later.
*Just observing it on video almost takes you back a million years ago when other exotics were roaming the planet, like the saber-tooth tiger. It really has that ancient exotic look about it.

I actually find this topic of thermal dynamics very interesting. And yeah I am absolutely hopeless with electrical engineering. I just don't seem get it at all.Oh yes, you did. Cooling cycles with steam compression.

The Carnot cycle is an ideal and the most effective thermodynamic cycle that produces work. There are many other thermodynamic cycles, either for producing work or heating/cooling. One of the cooling cycles is the Cooling cycle with steam compression. For more details, I am afraid that you have to ask Monster, as I am not very familiar with the english terminology of thermodynamics. Yet, if you have any questions on the reinforced concrete, steel constructions and retroffiting of existing damaged structures, then I am your man.
So far, so am I. I haven't touched electrical engineering topics since highschool and from a brief look at the books, imaginary numbers are used, which is also a topic I haven't touched since the first semesters of my first degree.
