R-Class R-Class Facelift

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class (W251) is a mid-size luxury MPV introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The R-Class shared its platform with the M-Class (W164) and GL-Class (X164) and was available in two wheelbase lengths: standard 2,980 mm (117.3 in) and long 3,215 mm (126.6 in).
These look real, and this looks much improved!

That's it. The 3/4 front photo hides very well the big proportions of the front end. In other photos, the new R-Class FL isn't that lucky and you can observe the otherwise huge and quite heavy appearance of the front area.

That's a massive improvement. I always like the look of the R, bar the ugly as hell front, especially those retarded lights.

Here, it's quite good-looking indeed. Impressive, powerful, appealing.

What an improvement. The front certainly look much better, right in line with the M-Class. Considering my growing family, this very well could be my next car in a year or so...

We're bound to see official pics soon now that it's been leaked.

I thought I was going to like this but it still looks like a Van. Maybe even more so now. The front looks like a Vito. Yuccccckkk. At least the pre facelift had it's own front....

Now official photos have been release yet.

Its because its a van..;)

It's not on the Geneva list.
Mercedes-Benz has shown everything that the element of surprise has gone or has it? ;)

I'd bet on it being at the New York show. It really looks great in those photos. I hope they spruced up the interior also.

Hmm...I guess it's not coming to Geneva, MB's lineup for Geneva seems to be the F800 and the MercedesSport E's. New York seems like the likely place to launch the car, but apparently the R had good sales in China...maybe this car is headed for a Shanghai debut?

I thought you were referring to Beijing, which kicks off on 23 Apr..:D

For those of you who missed it, there are many new R pictures in this picture thread:

And this morning the facelifted R-Class Job 1 came off the line. NBC has the story:

First redesigned R-Class rolls off-line at Mercedes-Benz Plant in Tuscaloosa County

VANCE, Ala — Several hundred Team Members of Mercedes-Benz U.S. International earlier today took a moment to celebrate the “Job 1” vehicle of the 2011 face-lifted R-Class, destined for a customer in China—one of the vehicle’s largest markets.

The black R300 rolled off-line at approximately 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

Dramatically redesigned for the 2011 Model Year, the R-Class is noticeably more assertive, underlining the unique character of this multi-talented vehicle.

The redesigned R-Class will be available in U.S. showrooms in August 2010.

an R-Class competitor from Peugeot? ;)

Peugeot HX1 to go into production as Peugeot 608?

The very good looking Peugeot HX1 Concept we saw at the Frankfurt Motor Show looks like it could make production as the Peugeot 608.

Big Peugeots have never really sold anywhere but France. So it seemed sensible when Peugeot revealed that the 407 and 607 would be replaced by the 508. But it looks as though Peugeot are about to make an about face and turn out a big Peugeot 608 after all.

The plan seems to be to take the very good looking Peugeot HX1 Concept we saw at Frankfurt last month, de-concept it, and turn it in to a range-topping, six-seat, luxury crossover in the mould of the Mercedes R-Class.
