E-Class (W212) Pre-Official: W212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The W212 and S212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class series is the fourth generation of the E-Class range of executive cars which was produced by Mercedes-Benz between 2009 and 2016 as the successor to the W211 E-Class. The body styles of the range are either four-door sedan/saloon (W212) or a five-door estate/wagon (S212).

Are there retractable headrests? It didn't look like they were...

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

I really really like the looks of the Avantgarde version, Will al the Avantgarde versions have squared exhaust pipes? They look pretty well.

The interior is beautiful, but only again with the Avantgarde trim, I´ve noticed that you can order the sporty dials featured on the ML and AMG model, that look zillion times better that those classy and boring plain standard dials. The door panels without the leather are clearly worse, so better order it, and the dark wood without the shifter on the central tunnel is better in my opinion.

The square exhausts are only for the V8 model! :usa7uh:

At least we all can agree that the rear is the weakest part, almost Korean style. Old E-class have a better designed rear.
C-class has a better design and as a whole its more attractive than the new E-class. I'm not blown away like I was when I saw the C-class for the first time.

Give the car some time. Most of the exterior photos we've seen so far are CG or of poor angles. So we should get a proper representation of the car when the press release has dropped with proper photos.

I will give the car a chance when I see it IRL. When I first saw the new 7er on photos I had my doubts but after seeing the car IRL I loved it. Same thing might happen with the new E.

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

When I see the rear of the car I immediately think of the W126, W201, And pretty much every Mercedes benz from the 60-late 80s. I do not see Korean anywhere. Due in large part because as far as I know the Koreans don't seem to have a design language. They always borrow from everyone else.

The rear is pure modern Mercedes.

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

Just played with the configuration!! And the first thing I've noticed is that this car is DAMN expensive…

Exclusive-Package is a must have and 18' rims…and some other little gadgets and a E 250 CDI costs about 65.000 €! :eek2:

Damn and the 4-cylinder engines are only available with the old 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual!

Where is the configurator? Which site? The Mercedes-Benz Germany site?

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

What I don't like (I like most of this car, mind):

- the cheap looking key (well, that cheap screen)

- the empty spaces around the nav screen.

- I was expecting some S-class metal coated buttons, but sadly I don't see much of this. Some parts look a tad bit bland.

- When you have the shifter on the center console, it looks like the climate buttons are very hard to reach when the car is in the 3rd or 5th gear...

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

(Almost) Fully euipped E250CDI = 70,000 EUR before VAT. It's really too much.

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

Ok I'm starting to like a little more, especially the interior. The power fold-down rear headrests are gone just like on the C-Class. Tough times and smaller traditional things have to go I guess. This car is very conservative, even more so than the W211 IMO, it should be a hit if that air or quality translates into real-world results reliability wise. No more W211 debacle upon launch.

Re: Official E-class Pics Leaked! (Interior + Exterior)

Really liking what I'm seeing. I'm only slightly apprehensive about the rear and perhaps the greenhouse, but I think it will work well in person. Now that MB has the CLS to play with this E is definitely more limousine like and traditional 'boxy benz'. I think buyers are really going to respond well to this.

The interior bridges the gap between the C and S flawlessly. The quality looks outstanding and the design is a great hybrid of the softer S and harder edged C. There also appears to be a real sense of teutonic solidity and great attention to detail. For the sake of bitching journalists who know no better then to harp on about Audi’s supposed superior finish, I hope they’ve varied the dashboard grain a bit from what was used in the C.
