Yes I find this very peculiar and somewhat disturbing actually. The W211 was already smaller then the 5 and A6. Ofcourse the new 5 and A6 will be larger yet again, meaning the W212 might get left behind in terms of interior spaciousness.
In fact quite a few of the rear seat dimensions seem to have actually decreased in this w212, which I'm finding very difficult to understand. The only real improvment over the w211 is width of the rear accomodations.

I'm also shocked about the fuel tank of the 4-cylinder models with just 59 litres!!
Luw, have a look at the dimensions of the rear seat, granted that one key dimension is missing on the new sketch.

As a taxi car it would be devastating if the leg room in the rear has shrunk as the E is a very popular VIP car.Yeah I saw that one before. Hopefully the dimension isn't there because MB have something to hide.As a taxi car it would be devastating if the leg room in the rear has shrunk as the E is a very popular VIP car.
The new 7er has about the same dimensions as the S-class but yet offer a bigger boot and a more spacious interior. Exterior dimension isn't everything.![]()
Conclusion: most likely, they don't want any fat asses in the new E.
I think this car is perfect..
You're not turning your coat, are you, Artist? Perfect? I thought you hated the rear lights? You're not turning your coat, are you, Artist?
