YES !! Great. Throw away all ugly SUVs which are for all those unsporty, lazy people; now drivers have to get more sporty, more healthy, finally. Very welcome, because it's so economical.

Looks stunning.. im super excited now.
And also the article tells a rather sweet story.. can't wait

Its so daaaamn low..[/Q...
The guy on the left is Georg Kacher and he is 2 m high, so even a SUV would look low.

Hands down the best looking 4/5 door in the world. For me it is the most desirable Porsche product since the 7.2 Mezger 4.0 and that's not to say there weren't great cars in between.

This has to be the car I look forward to the most...Since the first reveal of the Mercedes AMG Concept One in Frankfurt two years ago

Would be curious to see what the final interior will look like btw....Let's wait and see....But the initial clues on the exterior are very promising indeed

Looks great. Will it be faster than Tesla? 0-60.

This Porsche will compete with the Model S, which is already 8 years old. Is the following scenario possible: in one year Tesla presents its replacement and sends all competitors to rest?

Possible ? Well...categorically dismissing possibilities can end in disbelief and embarrassment. Cases in point: Trump becoming POTUS...BREXIT...McDonalds' offering salads on their menu... Perhaps unlikely. While I think that Tesla will present a formidable S successor, I'm confident that the competitions newly found commitment to electric mobility will ensure its'...ability to compete at the very least. And quite possibly surpass due to far deeper pockets and greater latitude regarding other resources.

When is Tesla scheduled to come out with a Model S successor? With their current financial situation with ever increasing belt-tightening and further commitments to expanding their model offerings, I feel that a new Model S is a ways away. Unless there's something I'm missing.

That said, Klier's right with the established competition furthering their commitment to BEVs and other, newer electric carmakers nipping at Tesla's current EV dominance.

Few thoughts -
- Tesla has been improving the model S continuously. The car is far from the 2012 version. Just got another range/efficiency boost from the new permanent magnet motor. Probably will get the model 3 cells too soon. But I doubt a big redesign is on the horizon.
- S/X sales is just a footnote now, Model 3 and soon Model Y is where the volume is, so I think that is where they will be focus their meager resources on (besides autonomous driving).
- Longterm, BEV was never going to be the defensible barrier to competition (also one of the reasons why legacy companies scared of it/resist it). Autonomous driving, OTOH, if they get it right (and that is a big ?), is going to be.

Interesting stuff

-The 4S and Turbo models ( which are the only ones available at start) will have a 96kwh battery.
-880NM in the Turbo, with a 10s boost to 1000nm
-The base model will come out 6 months later with a 80kwh battery.
-Different regen modes when you come off the accelerator, the maximum has an insane 250KW of regen.
-All models come with specially coated dust free PSCB brakes.
-617hp in the Turbo, 429 or 483hp in the S and 322 or 375hp in the base model
-The S and the Turbo comes as standard with AWD and the 96kwh big battery
-48V anti roll bars
-Batteries come from LG
-Weight slightly below 2100kg
-Price for base model in the low 90K usd range, for the S in the high 90K usd range and for the Turbo 140K usd.
-Hardcore turbo S model with over 750hp and a GTS lightweight version comes later

Consumption is supposed to be between 14.5-28.3kwh/100km.
That should give the 96kwh battery versions a range of 340-660km on a full charge.
Now to be realistic i just checked my Panamera E hybrid and i have an average of 21kwh/100km.
I believe this car will be roughly 100-200kg lighter than mine and also have better regen.
But still lets say it averages 20kwh/100km thats 480km of range, and thats what they are saying now on the new WLTP cycle close to 500km ( no bullshit range). And that is well enough for me.. im on board! and happy :)

Can't wait..

Those numbers. Wow. The Turbo with up to 1000nm will redefine performance for saloons and performance cars.

I will be mighty impressed if the 2,100kg weight is true.

2017 Model S P100d already put out 1072nm of torque (not sure how much the lates one makes), so I think that redefinition already happened for a few years now.

I am curious if Audi and Porsche use the same battery pack, if yes, hope Porsche is more efficient than the Audi. The Audi manages a hardly passable 200 miles from the 95kwh battery.

Yeah. The drive train and battery in the Etron are not great compared with the Model X.

Both Audi and Porsche batteries are by LG. Whether they will be of the same specification to achieve economies of scale we will find out.

Still the Teslas can't be driven balls to the walls repeadetly wihout having to take a breather.
and it seems like this porsche will.. you can always do a full launch as long as you have some juice in the battery.
it can do 10 back to back launch controls without giving up.

while the teslas might be further in some sense, they won't be in terms of quality and dynamics, this porsche will drive circles around any current tesla in all situations other than perhaps a 0-100 sprint ( with a fresh tesla only once)

^Yea, I am sure the Porsche will be dynamically superior. But I will also be disappointed if it shows up with a piddly 200 mile range like the Audi. It's other Achilles heels is a non existent super charging network. Will see, I have a deposit for the Taycan, though the wait list is damn long here. But I am in no hurry either, my lesson from multiple Porsches is always wait for the .2 to iron out the gremlins.

As for Tesla, those restrictions are old. They removed the restrictions since late 2017 via an update, so you can use the ludicrous mode as many times as you want including leave it on all the time as many do. Only restriction now I know of is, to get the absolute full, you have to enable a max battery power mode, which heats/cools the battery actively and that is only available above 20% charge.

Yeah that would suck, absolute minimum for me is 400km, but i belive they will reach 500km. every source up to now points to this.
This is a major investment for PAG, not like the Audi or the EQC mercedes where they build them on the same line in the same factory and so on.
They can't afford to show up with a weak product, and knowing porsche i doubt they will.

If I remember correctly the etron SUV can only be driven at full throttle for 20 seconds. However I don't remember whether the limitation is the battery or motors.
