I eagerly await the presentation of the first official press photographs with cars totally devoid of any sort of camo and in an assortment of colors and trims. The release of official info regarding the production cars' exterior dimensions will also be very interesting. Much indicates that length and width (4950mm and 1960mm respectively) will mimic that of the Cross Turismo Concept, of course with a considerably lower ride height. Therefore quite a large car.

Saw the real thing this week and, as I expected somehow, I was a little disappointed. Exterior is cool, interior is fine but not as exquisite as it should be and performance figures are impressive but not impressive enough imo. For years, the German OEMs claimed something along the lines of „we can build a Tesla but we‘re planning to build Ueber-Teslas“. And now it just doesn‘t look like they really deliver. EQC: Hell, not at all. E-tron: Well, no thanks. Taycan: Best try by far but still ... the ultimate niche product. And quite overpriced. If it blew the competitors out of the water quality-wise, I‘d be less annoyed about the obligatory Porsche extra ... but I did not feel it. Btw: What about the 911 style door handles ... they feel like the worst out of two worlds. If you want flush door handles then do it but do them right. This current solution makes me reminisce about my ‘96 528i ...

-The 4S and Turbo models ( which are the only ones available at start) will have a 96kwh battery.
-880NM in the Turbo, with a 10s boost to 1000nm
-The base model will come out 6 months later with a 80kwh battery.
-Different regen modes when you come off the accelerator, the maximum has an insane 250KW of regen.

The Tesla Model S II(a big face lift of current Model S) will reveal in the 4th quarter of this year accoring to reports ,that's exactly the same time of Taycan go on sale.A face-off between them is approaching.

Don't know more, but talked to a person who saw the real deal last week and have full specs. Discussed with him the above rumors and response was "not accurate in many points". There is an embargo right now...

The Taycan looks übermega in this particular videoclip. Its' presentation in production form may very well be THE EPIC automotive-related event of 2019.

Anyone who is expecting the Taycan to have superior range / efficiency / performance / technology to the Model S will be disappointed.

The Taycan will likely have superior steering/driving feel and build quality but outside of the Porsche enthusiast community, these attributes will be mostly irrelevant to the vast majority of people who are in the market for an EV.

I agree with most of your comments.

What I don't agree about is that it will actually attract more former ICE owners, not due to the range or straight line performance, but people who actually enjoy driving cars (cars enthusiast in general), opening even new market for EV. Porsche without a doubt provides the best driving experience out there, the same will apply for the Taycan. Go ahead and test drive a Macan and tell me it doesn't drive like or even better than some sport coupes. Also, build quality and minimal reliability/manufacturing issues will be a key for many people.
