The Porsche 992 is the eighth generation of the Porsche 911. Predecessor: Porsche 911 (991). Production: 2018–
As great as it may be but I think that the next generation of the McLarren 570S will...

Well, haven't McLarens been the best of the best in terms of performance lately? AFAIK, not even Ferrari can be McLaren these days.

From a metric standpoint I would expect the Mac to excel, although Porsche is king at doing mo...
Porsche magic can not be denied. It looks impossible, what they achieve with the antique 911 layout. But it has its limits. They have very little to improve, while McL has a huge room for improvement, which sooner or later will make the difference. Porsche is holding the edge in tire development but this is easy to catch up.

992 GT3 in touring spec will be the one to get. On those spy pics: mini ducktail + big wing +light bar just doesn't do it for me. Another benefit of 992 GT3 coming out is the drop in price in the prior gen prices (eventually).

Basically Porsche is pushing its engine further to the mid section in every 911 generation ... its almost midengined if you look at the RSR variants ;)
So with this shift plus clever electronics, dynamic engine mounts etc. I'm not sure how big 911 layout disadvantages really are ... traction is allways awesome/top of the hill ...

Another thing: Why are they dismissing those air breathers in the front fenders? Does the 992 not have some profit here? Or was it just a design gimmick with the 991?

Just curious, has there been already a test with the 992 and the McLaren?

No such shift. They managed to move it forward only several millimeters and the RSR is pure midengine like the Boxter and the Cayman, the engine and the transmission are rotated 180 degrees horizontally and the crown of the diff is also rotated 180 degrees to keep the right direction of the front and reverse gears .

Fender vents are reserved for the RS version. This is the regular GT3.

(Referring to the recent spy pics not render) It’ll looks the business, but the design is definitely not organic like the 992 GT3.

To avoid confusion, I've renamed this thread to encompass both the forthcoming GT3 and GT3 RS versions of 992.

Obviously they’re keeping the Touring. I think it’s almost 50% of Sales.

this car will be the end all of everything. Wouldn’t surprise me if they actually make the car lighter than before and pull out all the stops. Cannot wait.

That would be nothing less than absolutely grand without the rear wing.

It's unlikely though, given the weight increase on 992 - in particular attributed to the heavier PDK 8-speeder - that we'll see any 992 being lighter than 991.

The rear is perfection and must more distinctive than the Turbo which could, from the rear, be mistaken for a 992S with an aerokit.

Official figure for 991.2 GT3 is 1413kg for manual and Touring. With PDK weight is 1430kg. We can probably expect weight for 992 around 1430kg/1450kg. Or couple kilograms more...
