AFAIK, Polestar will be concentrating on European markets. Especially the Scandanavian countries, Germany, the Netherlands, Benelux, the U.K. There have even been rumours that Polestar will not bring the 5 to the U.S. at all. Canada on the other hand, yes. In any event, the 5 will be an automobile manufactured in low numbers and very expensive, the initial launch versions going for 150k+ Euros. It will be more a prestige tech "halo" piece for Geely.

Very sleek looking car that has some impressive stats.

A bit underwhelming. Its been so many years, Polestar is pushing out cars at Tesla pace, present something then deliver 5-6 years later… the interior is way too minimalistic and simple for a 120k€ base price car. I much more like what Volvo is doing, iterating fast, presenting heavily facelifted or great new models like the XC70, ES90 and soon EX60 that look better than Polestars, have astonishing nordic interiors and are a novelty. Luckily Volvo starts to move at Chinese pace. Kinda stopped being a Polestar fan at this point.

While I find the Polestar 5's exterior design absolutely lovely, it's presentation is sooo long overdue that the excitement has seemed to significantly evaporate. In 2022, the presentation would have attracted a great deal of applause. But now, in 2025...?

It's chances for success in the marketplace...???? An interesting note is that the chief designer who supervised development, Maximillian Missoni, is now with BMW AG. He will be responsible for the supervision of designwork for all future upper executive/luxury segment BMW products. BMW AG will profit from this.

I called into my local Volvo dealer this morning. ES90 production hasn't started, if I ordered one today I wouldn't get it for 18 months, this is the same stick they pulled with the EX90, order it and wait 12-18 months which turned into 24 months or more depending on you place in the queue. The ES89 also has a tiny boot, wtf were they thinking with that?

Dual Motor Long Range entry price approx. 120K Euros in Germany apparently. The Performance version closer to 150K Euros. Somewhat less expensive entry level models are reportedly planned as well.

Reviews, so far...glowing.

Its a very good looking car from all angles. The only thing that will bug me when driving this car is the absence of a rear view window. It will feel a bit claustrophobic in the back and looking at the middle camera mirror will probably seem strange to me.

It was worth the wait, IMO.
Looks sensational - like a 21st century EV re-imagining of the Rover SD1 silhouette. It will turn heads, of this I have no doubt.

It really is absolutely stunning. Perhaps the perceived "long overdue" presentation will not at all diminish the positive impact of the Polestar 5's design. Regardless of whether "it sells-or not", the Polestar 5 is already an icon as an example of a timeless piece of automotive designcraft. It really graces the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich with its presence.

Those prices and the current market environment for this type of super-fast and super-expensive 4 door coupe EV's will destroy it. It lost a bit compared to the exuberant concept, but it's still very beautiful.

A bit like Lotus EVs.
