Polestar 5 Polestar 5 Official Presentation Appears Imminent

The Polestar 5 is a high-performance full-size sedan battery electric vehicle (BEV) produced by Polestar, an affiliate of Geely Holding and Volvo Cars.
Is the 5 based on the same platform as the Lotus Emeya?

This is a striking car. I would have no clue that it is Lotus. Then again I'm not sure what modern Lotus is supposed to look like. To me a Lotus is supposed to look like an Esprit.

I don't like the direction that polestar is taking with rear windshields.

Yes, having extended the glass roof downwards to the hatch shutline kink would have benefitted the visual IMHO. It would have also visually aligned with the extended (into the c-pillar) sideglass trim, providing a bit more congruence.

Looks highly obese in these real life shots. Like to the point it's going to snap the rear axle.

Give me a regular sleek sedan any time of the week. And thus, hard pass.

Same as with the A6 e tron, both concepts were promising, and both production models ended up bulky and fat.

It will be interesting to finally see the exterior dimension stats. It's been speculated that overall length will be approx. 5100mm and width without rearview mirrors over 1950mm. Should this be accurate, the Polestar 5 will be a large car, exceeding the dimensions of the BMW G60 5er.

Has the recent tariffs commotion thrown a spanner into the works ? It, until quite recently, appeared that the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show was being targeted as the official presentation venue for the production Polestar 5. But now...**crickets**. The Volkswagen Group has confirmed the presentation of a number of new vehicles developed in cooperation with various Chinese partners (SAIC, FAW, Anhui). But otherwise...? New Lexus ES BEV/Hybrid sedan...and ???

What is the point of having this car and the Volvo ES90?

Perhaps mimicking the former "E-Class + CLS"/5 series + 8 series GC" sort of thing ?

Whatever the case may be, the Polestar 5 is now very long overdue and its official presentation is all already promising to become anticlimactic.

Indeed, the official presentation of this car is destined to be anticlimactic. Such a shame. I can only hope that when (...or should I now say "if" ?) the Polestar 5 is officially presented, the examples at the event feature very nice, elegant paint hues and equally nice large rims, 21" or 22". Perhaps that could rekindle the spark. Save the missing rear window, the design is simply...sublime IMHO.
