The pricing is bold. Volvo aren’t being shy about reestablishing themselves as a premium car brand. Their cars look the part too. Whilst the V60 won’t be the sportiest car in the class, there are few or any areas where it is uncompetitive.
There might not be many areas where it isn't competitive, but there is one MAJOR one, under the hood. Their 4-cylinder only strategy is holding them back from even more sales in the U.S. at least.

Jalopnik actually brings this up

Maybe I jumped the gun a bit in that when you look at the following pic comparing the V60's and the V90's cargo, I'd want the extra cargo floor space.

These are just damn good-looking wagons.

I agree a nice 6 cylinder engine would do wonders, but it's not holding back sales, Volvo have been increasing sales year on year since the new XC90 arrived. You also have to remember that there is a whole world outside of the US, the US market isn't what it once was and other markets will and have become more important.
2013 427840
2014 465866
2015 503127
2016 534332
2017 571577
They'll easily top 600,000 in 2018 if sales increase as they have over the past 5 years.
Well maybe not holding back sales, but it is preventing them from reaching even more people. I for one would never consider a Volvo because of it. The world market, yeah I know, others offers more than 4-cylinders in the "world market" also, still doesn't excuse Volvo. The world market is no excuse for them only offering 4-cylinders. It's quite ridiculous actually. The are many here that won't even consider a Volvo anymore.

They don’t only offer 4 cylinders, they now have a 3 cylinder as well.
Volvo engine bays only have space for 4 cylinders.Well, let's speculate. Since we know Geely has acquired a fairly sizable stake in Daimler, perhaps they can do a deal to get access to the M256. It's a hybrid so could fit nicely with the Volvo ethos. I think it will make a nice uplift to the 90 series cars. if Aston Martin can get the AMG V8, Volvo can get the Straight 6.
I think they could make a plan. After all they used to put the old T6 3 litre 6 cylinder in their cars transversely. It won't be easy, I grant you that.Volvo engine bays only have space for 4 cylinders.
Summer for S60 and Volvo V60 CC.Where's the sedan ?
