This car will be a huge hit. Strut brace mounts, redundant cooling vents and drainage holes in the diff and gearbox all in the name of making it friendly to tuners. :eek2::eek2:

There is no other car like it!

The 5 year Toyota warranty is a huge bonus too. Like the GTR it will have very strong resale value for years to come, much more so than any BMW with the B58.

Bravo Toyota! :eusa_clap

Looks really good in black extremely positive reviews it’s the best supra ever and a viable alternative to the Cayman and sounds better than any turbocharged BMW I6, BMW should ask for exhaust tips. Noticed that the redline is 6500rpm instead of the BMW 7000rpm ...reliability?

Yes. Toyota have slightly detuned the engine in order in favour of reliability and longevity. The bonus is that it also leaves more headroom for tuners.

I saw on FB the other day a company advertising LS7 conversion kits. Tuners have already started ripping out the BMW donk and replacing them with 2JZ's.

Yeah, needs better thermal management though :D

It's muscular and sculptured like an Aston Martin Vantage but at a third of the price.

If part sharing with BMW enabled Toyota to not compromise on design then I am all for it. The head and tail lights are amongst the most concept-like on a production car. Toyota has made the type of car that you look at with admiration from your window or when you lock the car.

I find the design remarkable for its price range.

I hear they say in the videos that the GT86 has been a great success. Has it really? I almost never see a GT86 on the street....

I hear they say in the videos that the GT86 has been a great success. Has it really?

It depends on who you ask. On paper the GT86 was everything every car enthusiast wanted: A light sports car with a manual gearbox, high reving naturally aspired engine and low centre on gravity.

In reality the car launched too late to enjoy long success. Point and squirt hatchbacks like the A45 are so fast it makes the GT86 feel gut less. I have driven a friend's one and it's a friendly and likable sport car that will unlikely get you into trouble no matter how hard you floor it. The downsize is that the lack of low end torque can make it tiring to drive in start and stop traffic.

As a last of its kind, it will acheive cult status amongst those who like the MX5, Alpine 110 and Boxster. For mainstream buyers a Golf GTI is simply "better".

This car is already dead on arrival. The majority of original Supra fans don't like it,Bmw fans of course like it,but only in words. Toyoda San made a bad decision on how to revive the legend Supra.

If the potential for tuning is as high as its purported, then, no, it's not DOA. However, this whole segment is pretty moribund, hence Toyota either 1) partners with another automaker to achieve economies of scale, 2) invest a buttload of money and absorbing all the risk in a dying segment, or 3) not do the Supra at all. Option #1 makes the most amount of sense, and in creating buzz, Akio-san made the best decision with those options at hand.

Toyoda San is a respected and distinct person which is totally different with his predecessors,he changed the traditional style of Toyota. But his handling on some very important and iconic model of Toyota/Lexus seems not so successful as expected, such as Lexus LS.
On the new supra,Toyoda San could have refused its revival because Toyota don't possess the suitable resources of its own at present. It's not a wise decision to revive a legendary Toyota model by a rebadged works for cost saving.

The fans of Supra, the tunning boys, bought the previous model but second hand, also this is a much better car than the previous one, much more complete and all testers are happy with the handling, so I think it will make many new fans and definitely have a even more bigger market because it is cheaper than it was the previous one at the time.

For example to me the design of the previous one I did not like at all and I like this to the point of considering buying it, let's see.....chasis and engine from BMW, take my money
