A4/S4/RS4 [Official] New Audi A4 Official Thread

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

wow! it has grown on me! Never had an audi before, but this is 100% my next car. Is it worth waiting for the 2.0T, or is 1.8T just as good? The question is, how long is the wait?

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

New A4 is quite good looking car,no doubt about that..Just one thing bothers me..it may sound silly or even irrelevant, but I don´t like those LED´s in front lights..I don´t know, they just look wierd to me..maybe if they were in different arrangement it would appeal more to me..

THE NEW AUDI A4: THE SPORTIEST MIDSIZE SALOON

Sporty and superlative, progressive and emotive – the A4 takes Audi into a new dimension in the midsize car segment.
The sedan’s engines provide supreme performance with fuel consumption that is an average of nine percent lower than the previous model. The highly efficient powertrains are just as clear evidence of Audi’s outstanding technical expertise as the dynamic suspension or the many other technologies adopted directly from the large luxury class. The Audi A4 reaches the U.S. market in fall of 2008. The new Audi A4 – the new way to drive.

New design idiom
The new Audi A4 combines many fascinating aspects. Its design is expressive, taut and dynamic. The high precision and technical character of its styling clearly confirm Audi’s leading position in this field. Compared with the previous model, the designers have altered the proportions to create a new, sporty impression. The front overhang is shorter, the hood and wheelbase distinctly longer.
At an overall length of 185.2 inches, the new A4 is a large sedan. It boasts a substantial, powerful road presence. Its body illustrates the technical progress that has been made: it is significantly more rigid and safer than the previous model, but also distinctly lighter, thanks to intelligent weight-saving. With a drag coefficient of cD = 0.27, the new saloon cuts its way through the wind with ease, and its 480-litre boot is larger than that of any of its direct competitors.
Inside the new A4, the ambience is spacious and full of light, as would be expected in a much larger model. It embodies the traditional Audi strengths: a distinguished appearance, no-compromise high-quality workmanship with close attention to detail and logical, intuitive controls.
A whole series of high-tech optional extras taken from the luxury class is available to enhance the interior still further, from the MMI operating system, acknowledged as being superior to its competitors, to the automatic air conditioning with three-zone control. To take one’s seat in the new A4 is to experience the sensation typical of an Audi – one immediately feels at home. In the safety area too, the brand sets new standards: the airbags and seat belt force limiters work together even more effectively to protect the occupants better than ever before.
The new Audi A4 is being launched with a powerful V6 FSI engine making 265 hp. It uses the FSI direct fuel injection principle that efficiently shoots fuel directly into the cylinder. With its smooth running and impressive flow of power, the V6 FSI in the new A4 are a source of pure driving pleasure. It also uses less fuel than the corresponding unit in the previous model: consumption is down by an average of 13 percent.

More dynamic than ever: the quattro driveline
In the transmission area, Audi offers customers a wide range of high-tech solutions. Easily operated manual gearboxes or tiptronic automatic transmissions deliver engine torque to the quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system. For the new sedan model, this is more dynamic than ever before, with the torque split biased more strongly to the rear wheels.
The driver will experience the new A4 as the sportiest of the midsize sedans – a car that is agile, precise and effortless to control. The differential has been moved further forward in the driveline by interchanging its position with the clutch or torque converter. This has enabled the front axle to be repositioned 6.1 inches further forward – a solution that permits the axle loads to be ideally balanced. For the new Audi A4, the dynamic suspension is a totally new development. Thanks to the use of numerous aluminium components, the suspension, steering, wheels and brakes are exceptionally light in weight.
Two innovative technologies add even greater fascination to the driving experience. One of them is the Audi drive select control system, with which the driver can adjust the operating characteristics of the engine, automatic transmission, steering and adaptive damping to suit his or her own preferences. The other is Audi dynamic steering, which operates with a superimposed gear system that varies the effective steering ratio according to road speed. Close to the handling limits, it acts together with the ESP to stabilize the car by slight but very rapid adjustments to the steering. In this way, the system combines sporty driving fun with a high level of safety.
The innovative assistance systems on the new A4 make driving even more relaxed and enhance the driver’s control of the situation. Audi equips its new model on request with various high-tech systems that have so far been available only on luxury cars. These systems control the distance from the car in front, help the driver to keep within the chosen lane or to move safely from one lane to the next, and provide support when parking the car.
Technical area of the future: multimedia
The Audi A4 also sets new standards for a midsize car in one of the most fascinating technical areas of the future, namely multimedia. The new saloon enters production with a series of communication and entertainment technologies at the customer’s disposal that would be impressive even in a luxury-class car.
Among the components are various audio systems, navigation systems, an iPod interface and a highly convenient Bluetooth telephone.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official thread).

This A4 is at the Australian Motor Show. DAMN, its hot especially the black/biege combo  :icondrool

I'm going to the show this Monday to see it IRL and hopefully take some pics to post here, if Monster hasn't already done so :D .

I think I might hold off on buying the C-Class until I taker a closer look/test drive in this baby.

Even though I believe it looks more like a FL, it's still a good looking car.

Well done Audi :eusa_clap :eusa_clap ........who knows, this car could make me turn to the dark side:D :D

Hi Auto, sorry for the late response.

It was on our Oz website Drive.com.au. Not sure if it's still there. The shot was taken at the Australian Motor Show.

Successful Start for the New Audi A4

Although the new Audi A4 sedan is available in just a few European markets, it has been reported that it has generated successful sales so far. At the time of market launch in the first European countries the A4 had already generated 33,000 customer orders. That figures exceeded the initial expectations, even though it is the most-sold model of Audi.

The Audi A4 has been available in Audi dealerships for just a few days now – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. In January 2008 the car will be available in France and Spain, and thereafter for the remaining European countries. It is interesting to note that in the United Kingdom, Audi’s strongest export market in terms of sales, the A4 will start selling at the end of February 2008.
Even as a brand new model, it has already won major awards such as “Golden Steering Wheel” as best midsize car by Bild am Sonntag newspaper, and also received the Auto Trophy 2007 from Auto Zeitung magazine. In the individual test carried out by Auto Motor und Sport, it achieved the top five-star rating.

Press Release

Successful start for the new Audi A4

The new Audi A4 sedan has been available for test driving at Audi dealerships for just a few days now – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

“At the time of market launch in the first European countries we already counted 33,000 customer orders,” said Ralph Weyler, Member of the Board of Management at AUDI AG for Marketing and Sales. “The orders received and the impressive response from customers and the media have exceeded all our expectations. From our perspective, this is an extremely positive sign. As our most-sold model, the Audi A4 holds a special significance with respect to our ambitious goals.”

Although the new A4 sedan is just now being launched, it has already won some major awards. The new A4 was honored with the “Golden Steering Wheel” as best midsize car by Bild am Sonntag newspaper, and also received the Auto Trophy 2007 from Auto Zeitung magazine. The sedan outdid its competitors handily in the numerous comparison tests performed by Auto Zeitung and auto motor und sport magazines. In the individual test carried out by auto motor und sport, it achieved the top five-star rating.

With these honors, the new A4 moves seamlessly into the successful footsteps of its predecessor. As the eighth generation of the midsize sedan, the new model replaces a highly successful generation that rolled off the line for the last time in November of 2007, and one that sold about 2.2 million units worldwide.

In January 2008 the new Audi A4 will also be launched onto the market in France and Spain, and will then gradually be introduced in the remaining European countries. In the United Kingdom, Audi’s strongest export market in terms of sales, the A4 will start selling at the end of February 2008.

When does this car go on sale in US?

3 things I don't like: It looks like it got bigger. Where is the horsepower? The 2.0 liter turbo makes only 200hp and the 1.8 is just weak at 160. Those LED lights in the headlights take away the front head appeal. It cheapens the whole look of the vehicle.

Audifanatic said it best.. good from far; far from good.

3 things I like: The front end is nice (besides the LEDs) The Back in end is classy and sporty, as both exhausts exits are nice (UK model vs US model). The Interior is simply perfect.

My main problem is the engine. I just can't buy a car with a power-plant that pathetic when there are cars coming into US market with 2.0T's and 300 HP. (See new lancer evolution) How can this car compete against the 3 series class when even the 135I has 300 hp?

It may look sporty, but its def isn't.:t-drive:

^^
Audi has some more engines comming out for the A4 this year. I hope that the engine in the 2.0TFSI(272hp) engine sitting in the TT-S will make it into the A4.

Hmm..IMO it will not happen,at least not in that magnitude..250 HP from 2.0 TFSI is more like it..that would be nice indeed..V6 engine options would become useless if that happens, especially 2,7 litre one(I think its 2,7,correct me if I´m wrong) :eusa_thin.

The 1.8T is 168bhp, not 160.

The 2.0T doesn't come in 200, in comes in a 180bhp and a 211bhp version of those announced so far here in Europe at least.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
