I don't get this "fairy tail" about the M5 being the "restrained business limo". Already the E39 M5 looked aggressive for its time. Even more so the E60 M5! If anyone at its time would have claimed it is an incognito business sedan, I would have shit in my pants laughing!
I remember perfectly the day the E60 M5 first pictures came out. I was not sold on the E60 design, but the M treatment was glorious. The front was particularly spectacular. Still is nowadays.

I didnt like the E60 when it came out, much like how I feel about this G60 5-series, but the M5 E60 looked spectacular due the fantastic wheels and the colours really elevated it into another level compared to the standard models

it will keep its ship look

As well as the size and weight

Seriously though, as expected, it appears the very first leak was actually none other than the M5

Very very good point! Here I was thinking those black trapezoid things were just chairs in front of the car, not believing they were a part of the car when it was revealed... Unfortunate.

Why do you think it will look bad?
On the contrary, I think it will be a plus in the "racer" look of the car, I would wait for a correctly taken photo

These "appliqués" contribute significantly to the overall view, being at the same time invisible or blending into the appearance, highlighting the stance and width when well used

Well with Mercedes Benz and or AMG getting attention (- quite rightly might I add!) for at least two separate cars kerb weights, I trust the BMW contingent are ready because if the new BMW M5 is a hybrid it's definitely going over 2000KG, no doubt about it.

But knowing BMW they've probably pulled something off brilliant and might come in under the hybrid C Class, we'll soon find out.

The guy that took that rear shot of the BMW M5- alleged, couldn't he just move to the front and shoot that too? Nevermind.

The E60 BMW M5 definitely sharpened up the 5 Series. I wasn't too fussed with them they were cool, it was always the Z3 then the flame surfaced Z4. They, then that is, looked a little odd to most I remember. But the passage of time has eased that a little, on the Z4 at least.

The beauty of the E85 was its masterclass in styling excellence it was the optimum statement of “Flame Surfacing” design language. As well as its driving position that you may have well been sitting on the road. It’s aged particularly well too.
If you look at the two Rolls-Royce concepts you can see evidence of matured Flame Surfacing especially in its flanks. Influential because the designer of E85 now heads up Rolls-Royce design.

But again, there are always going to be some fanboys on the internet deffending whatever it is that has the brand logo on it.

Should we just yell UGLY at the same time just to please you? Or is someone who likes what you don't like automatically a fanboy?

This will look modern and new. What the M8 is doing has been done for literal generations on multiple different model lines.
You may quote me to say you were wrong in a year from now.

Or just take Crunch's advice because according to him an 8er is a better option anyways ;)

I don't get this "fairy tail" about the M5 being the "restrained business limo".

This comes from people who owned an E34 M5 and now have a wheelchair to transport themselves. Pay no attention.

Again. It's the integration that bothers me, not the shape. Those are all integrated into the bumper besides the cheap GR86.

Like I said, the M5's looks tacked on and protrudes, it doesn't look properly integrated to me like the cars you sent or even the M8 mentioned earlier.

Haha yeah, I too thought the black was part of the foreground. Might have been an intentional leak in hindsight? Not showing the quad exhaust on purpose like that when you have the opportunity to take a photo sounds almost unbelievable.

An intentional leak to show the shape of the rear lights and soften peoples minds it is, then.

I f'ing loved the E60. And if they'd updated the lights with LED tech and give it a new interior, it could go on as the all-new..........3er CSL.

Bah, you perfectly get what I’m talking about, don’t play corporativism cause I’m calling someone a BMW fanboy. People can like whatever they want. But this is a forum, so if you always defend a brand like it was your mother, no matter what, people won’t take you seriously.

It’s what BMW M terms the M5 in general. “The Businessman’s express.” They deliberately market it as a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing or a pair of Brogues that are actually running shoes. It’s been there since the E28 and is very true to its statement.
IMG_8895.jpeg

This E28 for example if not for the M5 insignia could be mistaken for a 528i. It’s the same right down to this outgoing generation. In Berlin I can see someone has transformed their M5 into a CS in regard to cosmetics appearance only. As well as regular 5er into M5.
IMG_8936.jpeg

The M5 has always been subtle without being over extravagant. It has the epitome of Blink And you absolutely definitely bloody will miss it. It hides is Performance under a cloak of conformity and conservatism.
I would say that G90 more or less will offer the same but I can understand the need in this current age to differentiate it from an M Performance model like an M550e or i5 M60. Just like the other M models offer subtle visual enhancements which M2 to X5M demonstrate.

Playing corporativism isn't real and can't hurt me.

However, I get what you mean and think it's nonsense. But like I said, you are free to apologize and say you were wrong in a year ;)

I do hope so, it would be the first ugly M5. The competition this time is so weak that comparatively it will still look good.

In other words, even if it looks good, it will be ugly? Great, so we are covered for any eventuality
