Looking at the picture comparison with the W214 E-class, I think this time Mercedes has the upper hand on the BMW in all aspects. The exterior is more elegant in the details, its design is less fussy and will probably age better as time goes on. The interior looks like from the upper class, it has more bright work, while the BMW has more black or dark sombre interior dash, even with the light coloured seats. The BMW interior could come from a 3 series or 1 series, it is missing the trim on the doors and no stitched upper dash or upper doors or even center console makes it look much cheaper.

While I can agree with the G60 interior looking cheaper, can’t see how the W214 looks any better. There are no trim insertions on the doors neither. If you order hyperscreen, the only trim you will get is the one between the front seats. MB’s solution for the screens looks way cheaper than what brands like Porsche are doing.

Not to mention, complains about MB’s poor interior quality have been going on for at least 8 years. If this G60 has a worse interior quality than the G30, it would be a first for BMW since the Bangle era.

Completely opposite here. The MB looks like a high end rental at best interior wise. Cheap and ugly, and they are in a dire situation as it's getting seemingly worse with each new car.

Exterior wise, those rear lights on the Benz can be best described as a joke, and the whole front looks tacky. So all in all, it has great proportions and that's about it. Stop fooling yourselves

Let War Commence…
Ok, let's go then....

I honestly do not understand what see as "ugly" about the car, as others have clearly said before, there is a lot of clinging to the previous BMW in terms of design and rejection of what it has to be until 2030!!, denoting the advanced ages of some members (lol) including me, the difference is that there is an inclination for not opening the mind about it.

Whenever there is a new philosophy there is rejection here, but it seems to be only here.

That stance, modern and aggressive, very similar to that of the E60 with that waist line that is almost a shoulder that runs through the entire profile, straight lines are what is coming, all the brands go there, (almost all), what that portends great success, mark my words in this and in the 7 series

Fully agree on the damm rearlights, just terrible. Front is ok, bar the horrible hood shut line.
In the end though, the Merc has some ugly desing details, the Bimmer however is fundamentally wrong with the stance and proportions, which is even worse. (And both with so much black plastic in the rear bumper)

Sadly, with Audi giving unremarkable cars, and Volvo, Jag and Maserati abandoning this segment; both Merc and BMW won't feel any pressure do deliver better looking cars.

True, the E class has nothing a simple facelift can't fix.
