Just by looking at these pics of the older 5-series interior vs new model, there is a massive contrast can be seen in the quality impression. The new model interior definitely looks cheaper and sparse compared to the previous model interior which looks alot more luxurious.

I'm still surprised about this, not even as an optional extra. Even with Individual leather, the cabin doesn't have that 'luxury' look I was expecting... "Wood trim on doors - No". Technically there is some trim on the front doors, but it seems so little. almost like why bother even putting it there...

Lowered the whole car with redesigned kink and taillights. Also added 22” X5 LCI wheels. Looks yummy.

Holy crap that looks amazing! Shorter overhang, a flatter roof, and a less-sloped trunk.. perfect. I would've skipped on the oversized wheels, but man, if only the 5er looked like this!

Oh yeah I also did those too lol. Thanks for pointing them out mate. It looks fantastic with just small changes here and there. I also love big rims so that was totally a preference of mine to make them huge haha.

Just for visual comparison.
Damn does it look weird as heck compared to my render… The sloping rear end wasn’t really bothering me until I visually compared them. It also looks oddly tall. Giving extreme FWD proportions.
I’m super confused now 🤔
Also funny how small changes such as shorter front overhang, more upright rear and lower height makes the car look much sleeker and longer. Proportions are the key to an amazing design.

Yup that's exactly what I was talking about. The lines of the rear lights look much better with your changes, as does the whole rear profile tbh. Same goes to the front.

What confuses me is these changes aren't dependent on the height of the platform either? So is it just bad design? I don't know.

There are also some strange design decisions. For example, the front DRLs should have been horizontal o give more width. With the current setup it only helps to accentuate the already bad height of the platform.

Problem is, if plebs on the net like us can figure these things out, what does that say about BMW's design team?

You have removed the negatives of the shared platform.

Just the opposite. Everything is connected to the increased height and the attempt to compensate it.

Why don't you try what will happen if you remove the black part under the doors? I mean to be in the body colour.

Woah, fantastic job there!

May I ask a for an additional change? Could you paint the side skirts? Just curious about the result.

The bangle era had the best wood implementation. The wood was thick & 3 dimensional. They also wrapped it so that the cut lines were not visible. The new BMWs seem to be filled with tacky plastics and thin pieces of tacked on wood that don't feel integrated into the design.

The wheel options of the 5 series keep appearing, all very original, this one that I recently discovered is one of the I like the most in a "luxury" way
