Talk about tight parking.... It's risky having a decent car in NYC and parking on the streets without the unsightly, but effective bumper guards. Hopefully the other drivers did not use the S Coupé's bumpers as a guide to maneuvering out like many NYers like to do. Saw that happen to a Ghost yesterday.

Meh, you know it's the norm in NYC when you park in the streets, especially for alternate side parking. You have to get your bumpers gangbangged, it's inevitable LOL.

As for the bumper guards, I use them, but they don't cover the whole bumper and I get too lazy sometimes to take it out of the trunk.

Ouch..I was about to say too, how is the S coupe going to get out of that space, I assume the car didn't get into that tight space before the cars in front or the back move in.

So you don't like my parking job? :(

How about this one? :D

Holly crap...sorry you have changed my definition of an impossible parking job. That right there is f*cking skill. I am genuinely interested in how do you manage?

Btw nice GS F sport. I have a soft spot for them.

I like to sit low as well, but I had no problem behind the wheel of the S coupe. How tall are you? I'm 5'-9".

I'm just under 6' so not really that tall. At first I thought the seat control didn't work when I tried to move it lower but then realized that's as low as it goes. It just confused me as the S coupe is supposed to be a more sporty variant of the car. The best cars in this reagard are Audis, you can literally sit so low it's funny (and I love it:D).

You always sit a little higher in a Mercedes because it affords better all-round visibility and more dignified ingress and egress.

I get exactly what you're saying but why not just give an option ti sit however you like? You can set the seat high if you want to anyway, why limit the lower range of movement? I'm not even that tall and I noticed it. As I said most are ok just the S coupe surprised me (didn't have the chance to try the new E yet but the previous gen was ok).

Two pretty tall gentlemen, sitting in the coupe, also talk about the headroom in this vid. Dr. Storp, the S-class chief engineer, points out there's ample room above this head. They also talk about the MBC CURVE function, and why he prefers to drive the coupe when alone, but the sedan should his wife come along. :)

Worked a lot with Mercedes insiders lately and thought this might be of interest for some of you (@mods: please delete if already posted. Thanks.): obviously, there will be no successor to the S Coupé. The next generation S family will consist of the limo, a 2 door convertible, and a 4 door coupé (no name yet, maybe SEC).

That's a shame but it kinda makes sense. With the upcoming new E-class coupe, that effectively covers the S coupe's niche. Considering how truncated the current S Coupe is in order to give it a more sporty dynamic, there would considerable cannibalization by the E coupe at the expense of S coupe, especially if the new E coupe is at a lower price-point. Where as the S-class family lends itself to "grander" endeavors, i.e. Grand Cabriolet or a 4-door coupe.

Gee whiz, this pic really emphasizes how sleek the greenhouse is.

Obviously, there is considerable cannibalization between S coupé and convertible. Also, the '2-dooredness' seems to be less crucial than its overall shape (flat, wide, dynamic) which might also be implemented with 4 doors. Furthermore, there is less/no competitors (yet :)) to a 4-door coupé in this segment. However, I only work with designers and developers, I do not have sources in PR or strategy.

There a really some cool things in the works that I will be happy to share as soon as a little more people know about them. Otherwise, I run the risk of losing my job :).

This would only make good business sense if Mercedes repositions the SL slightly more towards the S-Coupe. Maybe Mercedes' research shows the rear-seats of the S-Coupe are hardly used.

Anyone else who sat in one found the driver seat too high even in the lowest setting? I had a look at an S500 coupe at the dealership and it's really beautiful but I like to sit almost on the floor of the car :) The normal S class is much better in this regard. One review of the new E says the driving position is a bit higher (mentioned like that's good).
I've sat in the S coupe on multiple occasions, and I have also had a bit of an issue with the seat height (I'm 1,88m tall). In my opinion, playing with the seat cushion helped a bit. I extended it all the way forward (the entire cushion moves forward, not just the forward 1/3rd like in bmw's), I also lowered its' angle to minimum. Of course, these changes where made with the seat at its' lowest position. All-in-all, it is at the limit with the sun shade closed. When the panoramic sun shade is retracted it feels ok.
Anyone else have any input regarding their seating experience in the S coupe?

I'm happy someone finally come up with this issue.I sat in the S63 Coupe at last year 's Shanghai autoshow, the little bit higher seating position was also my only complain with this car, when I set the seat in the lowest position I still found it a little bit higher, even I'm short (170cm).And I find this issue is common with many many cars, strange.
