S-Class [Official] The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé (C217)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
China was never a market for such a car. In the areas I frequent NY/NJ, SOCAL, and FL both the coupé and cabriolet were good sellers and are still quite popular. There are barely any for sale at the moment on the second-hand market.

The 217’s were considerable more successful than some it’s predecessors. Times are changing, along with automaker priorities, so this line was let go for alternatives.

Just when Mercedes' typical dramatic depreciation and plenty of cars to be had should be in play it isn't. Used S63 Coupes/Cabriolets from 2018 onwards are ridiculously priced now.

It’s older than that now really, having come out for the 2015 model year. I still want one, facelifted version. I don’t care what anyone says the SL is NOT a proper replacement for a S coupe, it never has been.

IMO, this was the most coveted Benz to have. I remember when I was a yungin I had a chance to drive a C215 in 2001, a brilliant silver CL500. Stuff dreams are made of. Will never forget that morning. End of an era. Nothing Benz puts out will ever come close. This was the car for people with class, a design in understated elegance. RIP bo$$

Yes!
the profit margin must have been huge, just like Ola wanted - quality, low volume and profit - but then they stop one of the few cars that met that criteria?
They have no continental GT rival at the moment either. I can't imagine the 4 door GT 63s outselling the S coupe either. I see quite a few S coupes on the road - never seen a GT63s outside of a showroom - such a shame, but it is what it is.
I guess it's not good to compare to the GT63s - as that's being discontinued too? Shame.

The thing is that the GT 4dr is not just the 63. It’s a series of models and together the all outsold the S coupe easily. What you see on the road doesn’t automatically correlate to how something sells. The S coupe has been around for 7 years now.

Back in 2019 we should have bought that S580 Coupe instead the M850i GC. I suspect it would still be in our garage now. This car is holding on to it's values better than most recent high end Benzes.

What a world we live in, where today you can't even depend on the usually massive Mercedes depreciation to put one of their best cars within reach. Talk about a shovel to the head.

11 years on, the S coupe and convertible is still untouchable. One of the finest design by Mercedes and a modern classic.

I think it's still a very pretty car but it's definitely looking "of a certain period" in my eyes. In any event, it was a high note for the long line of big Benz coupes to go out on.

That is a strange S 560! Why in the world does it have a pre-facelift front bumper? At first I thought it was a fake 2019 but the interior appears correct for the facelift generation.

That's normal if they don't have the AMG line package.

Probably the best looking modern Benz. It's stunning indeed, and always will be.

Hard to fathom the same company makes the EQE/EQS/CLA/A/B and whatever else crap.

Timeless. The big coupes from Mercedes are the coldest designs over decades, like this and the SEC.

Rumor says they will bring back the S coupe
