I needed a day to recover, so overwhelmed am I by this extremely beautiful car. You might even think I love this one more than my wife.

The only flaw in my eyes is, that it doesn't come as a diesel. I'd be happy to invest a few euros more for a S-Klasse Coupé Diesel with circa 300 hp and > 700 Nm.

It is genuinely quite remarkable what M-Bs' design team has accomplished. Nothing short of absolutely outstanding.

I appreciate the subtle traces of A-Ms' Vanquish in the cars' exterior design. It furnishes a hint of flamboyance to an otherwise exceedingly elegant exercise in automotive design while not appearing contrived.

It is truly a most suitable "halo" car.

I wonder why there has been such a dramatic shift in the philosophy of the S-coupe. Was the CL becoming irrelevant? Please please please let there be a 4 door on the horizon!

@SDNR where are you? What is your take on this car?

^whats the shift? its still a big coupe..based off the S class:S

Hey guys I must say I was never really a fan of the CL...Expect the 560 SEC now that was a machine.
The ones after that were so so to me except the facelift current one in AMG.

This new S coupe is now another story this car is beyond imagination simply put without a doubt the best designed Mercedes Benz in the current line up.I think its like perfect from all angles and I know some not used to the rear and feel the chrome line is un MB well go look at a SEC of the 90's their eas a full chrome extension.Yes the rear is different from current MB cars but tell you what with that Aston Martin esque look its superb and they made it look amazing.

the interior I think makes the best Mercedes interior ...got everything classy, sporty and yet modern...Just perfect I could say.

All in all I can say if I had the money today I would not buy any other MB but this car it is modern and classy and yet a techno king.

Sorry but no ways can a bently compare to this piece of art by MB.

Now aren't you glad you didn't buy that C215. Start saving for this one!

@ Mr Mercedes I agree mate...Yeah this car and pricing sadly wont be in my budget that one was 950 thousand rands this in all probability will be around 1.8 to 1.9 million Rands...So yeah dream on hey.

Wow i dont know what you are all complaining about. Merc has had the most of its time a "family design", except the last 10 years they somehow failed to implement a consequent design philosophy, which is now reformed and remade by Gorden Wagener and his team. The "dropping line", the characteristic eyebrow DRL, the star in the grille or on top of it are such elements, which will probably stay around for a longer period of time. BMW has their "Hofmeisterknick", the corona lights, the L-Shaped Rearlights, Audi has the Singleframe, LED's in every possible arrangement and the "tornado line". Its a good thing that there is a "gene pool" of design features for a car. The designers take elements of that pool and create a car which is recognized as a BMW, Audi, Merc etc. And as said, Merc somewhere kinda lost their "gene pool" of design elements, and now it is filled up again with new ideas, and interpretations of older design elements (like the rear, SEC)
It is not the same when you had some disign elements for 40 years, and for 4 years. Dropping line is copy/paste from Leat Leon (i think) and design root for new merc face is:

This is maybe citan facelift:)
But I agree that S coupe looks very, very nice.

I don't like the S class in the COUPE version, it looks like renault laguna coupe.
I prefer version 4 door;)

I was wondering what will your thoughts be on this car.

I have to say, its 50-50 for me, I like both the Coupe and the Limo. The rear end of the Limo is simply stunning. On the coupe, not so much. Still, I have yet to see it in person.

A beautiful car inside and outside. Exterior-wise, this is the best S coupe since W126 SEC. The interior is the best modern interior ever in a big luxurious coupe. Beats all the current RRs and Bentleys imo. BMWs and Audis are nowhere close in terms of the aristocratic feel of the S coupe's cabin. But eight air vents across the dash in a 2 door car are too many indeed even for the design sake.

The rear end shows a new interpretation of Mercedes design and I like it on the Concept as well as on the production car. Its not changed at all I think. All the Laguna promoters should just look at the rear glass of the big Benz. It belongs in an art museum. The curves are just......breathtaking.

I like the aggressiveness of the Concept Coupe at the front more than this production model, also because it was more distinguished from its lower siblings like the C class sports due to the change in grill angle. The bumper on the concept was also more appealing in appearance imo. However its still a very attractive front design. The side profile is almost the same and its beautiful. This is my favorite Benz in the current lineup, sedan or coupe.

I only wish that Mercedes had used a different design interpretation for its sports grille for the lower models and this car would have been even more special. I agree to those who say that the front might be confused for the lower end models such as the new C sports. I experience such confusion with previous version of the CLK and the SL, the ones with the beany eyes.
