i3 [Official] The BMW i3 Official Thread

The BMW i3 is an electric car that was manufactured by BMW from 2013 to 2022. The i3 was BMW's first mass-produced zero emissions vehicle and was launched as part of BMW's electric vehicle BMW i sub-brand. It is a B-segment, high-roof hatchback with an electric powertrain. It uses rear-wheel drive via a single-speed transmission and an underfloor lithium-ion battery pack with an optional range-extending petrol engine.
That's not very likely to happen. Golf is disgusting. But the feature still sounds very interesting to me, even though golf carts appear to have it too. A golf cart can even carry the bag and clubs, something an i3 can't do (in the boot at least)

2-0?

You can get a set of clubs in the i3 either in the boot , rear passenger compartment or even fold down the rear seat.

The global campaign to introduce the BMWi vehicles has now begun.
So colleagues from our global distribution network have started to send me the respective media for the new BMW i3 and BMW i8.
This has started to show in the UK , subliminally flashing on the screen.
Do not adjust your set.

But wait till you see our actual media advertisement for the BMW i3.

I wish they had made the Rex thing a self contained tiny generator (which it really is) that is removable and you drop in when you need it - like going on a longer trip instead of lugging it around all the time. And if they had designed the compartment right, they could even offer a aux battery pack people could drop in instead of the Rex engine for better all electric range.

Modular battery pack is an interesting idea, I could see that happening. But actually removing an engine...? I can't even begin to fathom how that would be done, or who would want to do that.

A removable ICE module? :bored:

We haven't seen that in the automobiles in 100 years, and we won't in another 100 ...

Removable aux battery pack ... It would be heavier & providing less additional mileage than the 2-cyl 650ccm + 9-liter (2.4 gallon) fuel tank, compromising the i3's performance even more than the REx. And the charging time would also be longer.

Eg.
i3 full-EV vs i3 EV+REx
0-100kmh (0-62mph): 7.2sec vs 7.9sec
80-120kmh: 4.9sec vs 5.5sec
1,195kg vs 1,315kg
electric range: 190km vs 170km
energy consumption: 12.9kWh vs 13.5kWh

Btw, HERE (link) you can read one of the main reasons why such REx unit is used in i3.

Yes, cause till now ICE used to mechanically drive the automobile and wase mechanically linked to it. In the case of Rex engines, they are just a generator with an electrical connection to the vehicle that can be plugged/unplugged easily. Much like carrying a portable generator on a RV.
