Defender [Official] The All-new 2020 Land Rover Defender (L663)

The Land Rover Defender (initially introduced as the Land Rover One Ten, and in 1984 joined by the Land Rover Ninety, plus the new, extra-length Land Rover One Two Seven in 1985) is a series of British off-road cars and pickup trucks. They consistently have four-wheel drive, and were developed in the 1980s from the original Land Rover series which was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948.

Harry is a brave man lol. I'm waiting to see the V8 model, particularly a 2-door V8 model.

The V8 model has just dropped:

Jaguar Land Rover's supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 makes up to 575 horsepower in the Land Rover Range Rover SVR and the Jaguar F-Type R. In the 2022 Land Rover Defender, it'll spit out 518 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque—the same output as the Range Rover Sport Autobiography. The blown V-8 will be available in both two-door 90 and four-door 110 models, and it's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. Land Rover says the two-door will hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph.

I think I want the 2-door. Who said V8s are dead? The V8 is making it's last stand and it's going out with a bang.

But it's supercharged. JLR's AJ engines are a nasty breed. Makes a G63 sound tame.

Who cares? It's responsive and has tons of power.
Kinda pointless gas guzzler in a Defender though. I'd prefer to see a modern, fuel efficient inline six bi-turbo diesel in an offroader like that.

Pity about it being such an old engine.
It could get BMW's V8 in the 2nd or 3rd model year. I believe the next full RR Sport and Full Fat RR will be the first JLR cars with the most recent BMW engines. My sweet spot engine for the defender would be an inline 6. The pricing of the V8 variants are just nuts.

generally i hate the murdered-out look, but it looks straight-up mean.

Probably 80% of Defenders sold will be black.

Pointless gas guzzlers are very much still in fashion in some key markets. In a world where the Mercedes-AMG G63 and Jeep Wrangler 392 exist, the Defender V8 is an easy cash grab with a thick profit profit margin.
