Facelift model is now all electric. I personally think Smart (um Mercedes) have done the right move here as this car is meant for city driving so it makes sense to make it electric. The range is 159km, which is not much but they claiming it can go from 10% to 80% charge in only 10min. So 100km of range in only 10min of charging which is suitable for most people if there are enough high power electrical charging stations. Cute looks still remain, I can imagine that moving to all electric will make this car more popular.
IAA 2019: SMART FORTWO AND FORFOUR MODEL FIRST INFO AND PICTURES
At the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt, smart will be showing its optically and digitally completely revised fortwo and forfour models. The new smart fortwo coupé, convertible and forfour models have been extensively redesigned and are - as known - only consistently available electrically.

OPTICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORTWO AND FORFOUR
However, the front of smart's new electric models now differ between fortwo and forfour model. Where the four-seater sports a dynamic, down-opened "A-Shape " with optional integrated fog lights. the fortwo stays with the familiar friendly face. From a technical point of view, little has been done to maintain the model: the 22 kW on-board charger remains optional and allows the model to be loaded within 10 minutes from 10 to 80% range - provided that charging is possible over three phases on site. Thanks to the new cooperation with the charging network partner Plugsurfing, the customer now has access to almost every charging station, whose registration and billing functions via the newly designed smart EQ control app.
The lithium-ion battery still comes with a capacity of 17.6 kWh from the Daimler-owned German Accumotive, which should last for up to 159 km (according to NEDC). The electric motor in the rear provides 60 kW / 82 hp and 160 Nm of torque. For the sprint from 0 to 60 km / h, the EQ fortwo coupe needs 4.8 seconds.
Compared to the pre-model maintenance, the smart EQ fortwo model no longer accelerates - as before - in 4.9 seconds, but in 4.8 seconds on the 60 km / h mark. But the sprint to the 100 km / h mark is no longer - as previously - in 11.5, but completed in 11.6.
Three equipment lines can be combined with three equipment packages
The basic model is available with three equipment lines: passion, pulse and prime. You can choose from one of three equipment packages: Advanced, Premium or Exclusive and finally the preferred color. Finished. So each smart is put together in three steps according to your own wishes.
Even the smallest package "Advanced" includes the new media system with smartphone integration, an armrest at the front and an acoustic parking aid. Building on this, the "Premium" package also includes a panoramic roof, or a wind deflector on the fortwo cabrio, a reversing camera and a storage net on the center console. At the top of the range is the "Exclusive" package, which brings in addition to all "Premium" peripherals full LED lights on the front and rear and a sensor package consisting of rain and light sensor, fog lights with cornering function, ambient lighting in the interior and an automatically dimming interior mirror.
NEW PAINT COLORS
When it comes to choosing a color, smart makes it even more difficult with model care, especially since there are new finishes: for the fortwo, there are now carmine red and gold beige and lime green only for the bodypanels for the Tridion cell and bodypanels. In the forfour, ice white is new in the color chart for Bodypanels and Tridion. Exclusively reserved for the bodypanels, the new steel blue remains for the four-door model. Also in the interior there are new designs of the cover fabrics and an additional color option for the equipment lines passion and pulse. In addition to black / black, there is now also black / blue, which provides more contrast in the interior down to the decorative seams and accent parts.
FOUR NEW WHEEL DESIGNS IN SILVER AND BI-COLOR IN 15 AND 16 "
Also new are four wheel designs. Each in silver and bi-color they are available in 15 "or 16" for the equipment lines. If you want to give your new smart EQ fortwo or smart EQ forfour a particularly clean and electric look, you can use two rims that are particularly aerodynamically drawn. The 15 "4-spoke light alloy wheels and the 16" 4-spoke alloy light-alloy wheels provide a racy ride on the road.
New storage options - new media system connect
The revised interior would like to convince thanks to new, extended storage options and a newly conceived UX concept. The future infotainment generation comes with a seamless smartphone integration and thus offers the customer his usual digital operating environment in his own car. For the shelves, the designers have designed a new center console: instead of the hidden side drawer, there is now a large storage compartment in front of the selector lever, which can be closed with a roller blind. There are two coffee mugs in the removable double cupholder.
MEDIA SYSTEM USES MOBILE PHONE FOR NAVIGATION
