NEW MODEL YEAR FOR SMART BRINGS CARPLAY WIRELESS & SPECIAL MODEL

Since yesterday the new model year 801 for the smart models (C / A / W 453) can be ordered, which will be delivered from the beginning of February 2021. In addition to CarPlay Wireless, there are a few changes that we have put together here.

Change in equipment

In the standard equipment in the new model year 801, the interior accent parts will in future be black. The decorative rings of the ventilation nozzles, the additional instrument and the surround of the instrument cluster are no longer white, but are now black in the standard equipment.

For the line prime of the forfour model, the universal pre-installation for smart accessories (code 866) (included in the equipment line) will no longer be required.

Apple CarPlay expected to be “wireless” from the 2nd quarter of 2021

For infotainment, the smart media system connect (code 524) will also offer Apple Carplay with wireless functionality from the 2nd quarter of 2021. Smartphones can still be connected to the smart Media-System connect via USB cable in order to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The charging cable for the household socket (B48) will in future be 5 meters smooth (previously 4 meters, spiraled), the standard charging cable pocket will be given a new design in the future. In the future, summer tires with optimized rolling resistance will be fitted to the 16 ″ light alloy wheels.

Special model smart EQ fortwo edition “bluedawn” for the EQ fortwo Coupé

The smart EQ fortwo edition bluedawn for the smart EQ fortwo Coupé is new. In the exterior as well as in the interior, this contains expressive components that make the edition bluedawn a special eye-catcher. The edition bluedawn is only available for the coupé of the smart EQ fortwo (C453) in model year 801.

The bluedown edition can only be selected in conjunction with pulse or prime and costs € 3,773.11 plus VAT, ie € 4,376.81 with 16% VAT - however, the 19% VAT per year applies on delivery 2021 - thus 4,490.00 euros.

Selected color: British racing green

In the new model year 801, the well-known British racing green paintwork would be available as a further selected color variant. The production of vehicles in this paintwork is planned for the end of the first quarter of 2021.

Change of technical data

With the new year of change and the new 16″ summer tires with optimized rolling resistance, the manufacturer's range and consumption figures also change. The smart EQ fortwp Coupé is combined with a 4.6kW board loader with 16.0-15.2 kWh / 100 km, with a 22kW charger 14.8-14.0 - the range of 152-159 km according to Nefz. The cabrio is 16.3-15.4 kWh or 15.0-14.2 kWh per 100 km with a range of 150-157 km, the forfour at 16.8-15.8 kWh or 15, 4-14.6 kWh and 145-153 km.

I recently noticed that the fortwo electric sells for a minimum of 31.500€ here in Greece. It's an awful lot of money for an electric shopping cart. It should be half that price!

At the IAA 2021 in Munich, smart may present a first preview of an upcoming model that could roll out to customers from 2022. smart released the first sketches of the “smart SUV Concept”.

At the IAA in Munich, the new smart Automobile Co. Ltd of the partner Geely Holding and Mercedes-Benz AG is showing a first show car based on the Chinese partner's SEA high-tech platform (Sustainable Experience Architecture). The all-electric smart SUV model is internally referred to as the “HX11”.

The five-seater vehicle may have a rear engine with over 200 hp and a range of around 500 kilometers according to NEDC with a lithium-ion battery of around 70 kWh in the underbody. In addition to the possibility of fast charging, the vehicle should have retractable door handles and a spacious interior with a premium look and feel.

Production model as early as 2022

The model is produced in China, while the Stuttgart-based company is responsible for the design. As a market, the model is not only targeting China, but also Europe. After the smart SUV arrives onto the market, the smart EQ fortwo successor may follow from 2024. A successor model for the smart EQ forfour is uncertain, as is the continued production of the present model beyond 2021.

No, sorry for confusion. I don't know, they did not release specs (power, capacity, range). But from their previous cars, range was a joke, even more for the price. I hope this is closer to Nissan Leaf/Renault Zoe than Dacia Spring.
