Fortwo/Forfour [Official] Smart ForTwo & ForFour

The Smart Fortwo (stylized as "smart fortwo") is a two-seater city car manufactured and marketed by the Smart division of the Mercedes-Benz Group for model years 1998–2024, across three generations - each using a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and a one-box design. The Smart Forfour (stylized as "smart forfour") is a city car (A-segment) marketed by Smart over two generations. The first generation was marketed in Europe from 2004 to 2006 with a front-engine configuration, sharing its platform with the Mitsubishi Colt.
This car is overpriced by 4 times. It should cost 5k, new.

Yes, they are pretty exclusive. Only about 18,000 were sold last year. :)

Design chief Gorden Wagener just posted a new vid on IG: :)

Agreed. Believe there's a six month backlog at present. Might improve once the Geely smarts arrive? :)

^ Probably Germany, France & Italy and soon China? From a recent release: :)

smart delivers about 116,800 vehicles worldwide

Over the past twelve months, 116,781 customers opted for a smart fortwo or smart forfour (-9.3%). Sales of the smart brand in 2019 were influenced by lifecycle factors. At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, smart presented its completely revised fortwo and forfour models. Progressive design meets intelligent connectivity as well as zero local emissions due to battery electric powertrains. In the conversion year to the purely electric smart models, the highest unit sales of the past 14 years were achieved in Germany. From January to December, more than 46,506 of the urban microcars were delivered in Germany (+13.2%). In both France and Italy, growth was achieved compared with the previous year. And full-year deliveries climbed to a new record in Portugal (+25.0%). Never before in a year have so many of the electric smart models been sold worldwide as in 2019 – more than 18,400 units were delivered last year. In Germany, approximately every sixth smart vehicle sold was purely electric. At the end of March 2019, Daimler AG and the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group announced the establishment of a globally oriented 50:50 joint venture to transform smart into a leading player in premium-and intelligent electrified vehicles. The joint venture will produce a completely new generation of smart electric models in China and will be responsible for the international distribution. Source: Daimler

I wonder what percentage of those sales are with their own car sharing service ShareNow.

There are around 1200 cars in Berlin alone, made up of Smart, A, B, CLA GLA.... but mostly Smart.

^ Almost 800 electric smart EQs may have been added? :)

"By the summer, almost 800 additional Smart EQs are planned for the European fleets."

Just for reference, here is a screen shot of the app. That's not even zoomed out too far. There is always a car available.

With a substantial subsidy in Germany the Smart models are very well priced.

Smart has published the price list for the new edition of its electric models in Germany presented in September. The list prices remain unchanged compared to the predecessor models. It looks likely this will be the case across Europe.

The Smart EQ Fortwo will continue to be available at gross list prices from 21,940 euros, the convertible version of the Fortwo from 25,200 euros and the Forfour from 22,600 euros. The 22 kW on-board charger (AC) costs 990 euros extra. For home chargers, Smart offers a wallbox for 833 euros.

In Germany, the Smart is qualified for the increased environmental bonus rate for cheaper electric cars with these list prices, so the subsidy totals 6,570 euros – whereby the manufacturer’s share is calculated gross. The Fortwo costs 14,920 euros, the Cabrio 18,630 euros and the Forfour 16,030 euros.

The technical data of the Smart-EQ models have remained unchanged. The electric motor mounted in the rear still delivers 60 kW, the battery has a capacity of 17.6 kWh. This means that the range remains constant and remains between 140 and 159 kilometres – although still in accordance with the NEDC standard.

The numerous individual options have been abolished, and a total of four equipment lines can in some cases be combined with other equipment packages. Since the prices for the lines and packages vary between the three body shapes and only certain combinations of lines and packages are possible, we do not need to list them here and refer to the Smart Configurator.

The Smart comes ex works with relatively simple fabric seats and without a multifunction steering wheel. The on-board computer has a monochrome display, all other variants have a colour display. Automatic climate control and an audio system are on board in all Smarts, as well as cruise control with limiter. Even simpler comfort features such as a folding key for radio remote control are only available in the higher equipment lines.

Small size is for economy. If I do not economize, then I'll take bigger cheaper.

I wish I could pay for small size smartphone in this case, but there are no, neither cheap nor expensive.

Anyway, a big pity the Roadster Coupe has no successor, a true urban sportscar.

The electric range is not bad for a small tiny car like this, the claim 160km and the tester got 161km with 5% battery power left and what looks like alot of slow city traffic driving

smarts may be backlogged to Q4 2021 as production can't be further increased, writes JESMB. :)

An alternative for the forfour is the Twingo Z.E., though, which may be easier to find, and is similar to the forfour. :)
