Panamera [Official] Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
Seriously they should premiere it in Dubai, they already have looong waiting list for that:D

They have had Y-E-A-R-S to NOT screw up the launch of this car, and still they fail.
They only now discover the emerging market that's China? They only now think Beijing is better than Geneva for this car? LOL!

Fail, what are you talking about? As if Porsche could have predicted the economic slow down that has dented sales of luxury cars? Obviously Porsche was aware of China's increasing prosperity, unveiling the car there is just a more beneficial decision right now when Europe isn't doing very well. It's not that they think that Beijing is better than Geneva, but given the current economic situation it's better to seize the moment of strengthening their presence in China by launching a very important car there.

^ I'm quite certain that Porsche's key markets are the European Union and North America. No little credit crunch is going to change the fact that the majority of Porsche's buyers are wealthy Westerners.

Maybe they didn't want all the negative commentary at the Porsche stand in languages they'd understand? ;)

And just wait until Gong-Geeyong Motors copies the Panamera's design and markets the car at a 10th of the price to Chinese middle-class management in search of that little bit of extra legroom. Let's see how favourable Porsche's sentiment toward the Chinese automotive market is then?

Not for long my friend. The Cayenne has been selling like waffles in places like Russia, the middle east and Latin America. You'd be surprised by how well Porsche has established themselves in those areas thanks to the Cayenne. With the population over a billion and an increasing GDP there are major potentials of earning money in China, especially when there is a clear increase in demand for luxury goods. This also applies to India which is on the rader for many companies.

Although Porsche has their roots and ties in the Western world, money is money and they are like any other company willing to cater to those who are willing to spread their wallets wide open. Here are some figures that highlight how Porsche are successful in emerging markets:

2006 sales figures

Russia

Cayenne: 1,699 (or 89% of Total)

911: 133

Boxster/Cayman: 68

Middle-East:

Cayenne: 3,467 (or 65% of total)

911: 1,240

Boxster/Cayman: 623

Latin America

Cayenne: 1,280 (or 64% of total)

911: 440

Boxster/Cayman: 290

China:

Cayenne: 2,510 (or 81% of total)

911: 400

Boxster/Cayman: 195

East / South Europe

Cayenne: 1,583 (or 53% of total)

911: 998

Boxster/Cayman: 421

The Panamera will be in Geneva in one way or the other .
It too important a car to ignore for the wealthy inhabitants of Switzerland.
Even if it is behind closed doors, and by special invitation , it will be there.

Might not be necessary as Porsche has already held private viewings around the world for potential customers. And will be holding more private as we get near market launch and Switzerland will probably be on the list.

The space shuttle theory is true. Apparently the car is a strict four seater with the center console stretching from the front to all the way back. Apparently the interior space is colossal with the rear seats having the ability to recline, slide, heat and cool. The mechanism for the expandable wing is out of control, you guys need to watch the video. People will kill themselves when they see the wing deployed. There seem to be a lot of innovation and I'm sensing that the car will have quite a big impact on the segment of four door sedans. MB, RR and Bentley will be paying close attention to it as they are most likely working on top end four door coupes themselves.

i noticed in one of the interior shots that it has a flat bottom steering wheel:usa7uh:

Photo shop request. Can someone redo the car in this photo in white ? Any1 ? Julius ?

I bet it is a repost… :D

I wonder why Porsche tries so hard to hide that display right to the rev counter? It's not that much of a revolution, is it? :t-hands:

Best regards, south
