911 (997) [Official] Porsche 911 GT2 RS new

The Porsche 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car manufactured and sold by Porsche. Production: July 2004–2013. It was succeeded by the Porsche 911 (991).
Come now Tyc, the Italia is utterly gorgeous in every way but this thing, well, it's not pretty. Brutal? Yes. Arresting? Certainly. However, it falls light years short of the 458 in the beauty stakes unquestionably.

To each his own, Martin.

I don't like them, but if i'd have to choose, i'd pick F430 over this (design wise) every day... ;)

Porsche? Well, it's brutal, it's meant to be, looks AND perforamnce wise, no "make up"...:D

:usa7uh:

The Italia may get a little bruised by this car here and there but its more advanced system integration and better user friendliness means that you'd have to be a Walter Rohrl type, maximising the ultimate potential of this ICBM, in order not to be left for dust by Average Joe in the 458 with its wicked wizadry.

That's truth and i'm aware of that, credits to Ferrari for that...:usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

PS: pardon my lack of knowledge, but any chance for this car to be equipped PDK gearbox in the future...? No?

I prefer the Scuderia too Sasha. Although the GT2RS has the performance accumen, it lacks the visual sparkle to make my earlobes tingle. My view is that the Turbo or GT3/GT3RS are the best cars to buy for anyone who fancies the pinnacle of the 911. Porsche could have customised the car a bit more and given it some character because in that silver body paint it looks like "just another faster porsche".

The car doesn't interest me that much since I'm more curious about what's in store for next year's presentation of the 991.

I fully agree with this. This is most brutal stock Porsche on the road today, right? So i agree it should look more special than it actually looks...

Like...? :D

Don't know if you guys realize this, but the "normal" 458 with "just" 571HP matches (even beats) GT2 RS in 0-200. In the Quattoporte test, it did it in 9.7 secs vs 9.8 secs claimed by Porsche. Magazines might get a faster time, but the difference is not as huge as the power/weight difference would suggest. I guess thanks to the DCT in Italia. The upcoming Scuderia will be a perfect opponent for the GT2RS. The GTO IMO is more in the Zonda F realm. Of course kudos to Porsche that the GT2 RS is probably is still faster around the ring than the GTO or Zonda F.

I noticed that too,but the GT2 RS isn't just about speed but ultimate track handling just like the GTO.The Italia while being a really capable handler still isn't a Scuderia yet.

I'd love to see a track test between Cinque,GT2 RS and GTO!

Well, thanks, but why...? You, Martin, Hassan, anyone? Too much torque for PDK to handle? :t-hands:

:t-cheers:

GT2 simply is a manual only monster historically. And GT3 too. And GT3 RS too.
So GT2 RS is manual. Everybody who doesn't like that can go for the awd pussy car Turbo, where one can have an automated manual. Much safer and easier to drive :)

Who's mr WR :D

And he better be coming from the back without being seen and then run away hard!! Otherwise he has uno problemo

"Apparently, 997 GT2 RS has been revealed to dealers and will be officially unveiled in two weeks.

Specs :

620PS

0-100km/h - 3,2s

0-200km/h - less than 10s

Was the 0-300 time confirmed?

No, it's actually 28.9 secs.

Exactly
And not just IYO, that's how it is. The Italia is extremely close to this 911 GT2 RS already, and the Scuderia version will completely take care for the 997 991.

Now I'm a pretty good driver, have driven a few times around a track, nothing spectacular....but is there anyone here that can really drive a car like this near-profesionally?

No. According to my dealership, you have to be a real hero :D to drive a GT2 quick on the track (whilst a Cayman or a GT3 can be driven by everybody).

GT3 for boys, GT2 for men.

I'd take them both, and drive the GT2 the most.

People simply can't drive.

More special? I didn't know you were into ricers lately? ;)
GT2 RS is baddass and hardcore looking as it is. No other Porsche comes close.
