911 (997) [Official] Porsche 911 GT2 RS new

The Porsche 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car manufactured and sold by Porsche. Production: July 2004–2013. It was succeeded by the Porsche 911 (991).
Somebody please stop Porsche! 7:18?!

Please don't paint one in white... because I'll have to sell the shirt of my back to buy one!

Widow maker suddenly seems such a benign term... Devil's chariot is more like it.

oh, to be a billionaire.... then I'd get this, a 599GTO (sold out, I know, but let me dream), an LFA, a McLaren F1, MP4-12C, an Italia, a Balboni, a restored 3.0 CSL, and a 5er Touring (for everyday driving). These would look great in the garage of my French chateau along a Mediterrean vineyard.

Damn this plane of reality!:eusa_doh:

But, seriously, 620hp out of a turboed 3.6 flat-6. Bravo, Porsche, bravo.:eusa_clap

Wonder why they didn't give it wild graphics like GT3 RS nor the race car looking rear wing from the RS.

Is it just me or does the bare carbon fibre bonnet and other detailing make the car look ugly? Of course, it impresses me no end but I can't help but feel that it's the ugliest 911 in the line up.

:usa7uh: It isn't the best looking part of this car…that's true. Looks good with black colour though…a dark grey colour would be also fantastic…

The report according to Autocar at: Porsche 911 GT2 RS launched - Autocar.co.uk

Porsche has revealed its most powerful road-going 911 to date: the GT2 RS.

To be built in a limited run of just 500, the new rear-wheel-drive road racer is powered by the latest evolution of its twin-turbo 3.6-litre flat six engine, tuned to deliver a Le Mans-grade 620bhp.

That’s a whopping 60bhp more than the standard 911 GT2 — now out of production — and 8bhp beyond the German car maker’s previous most powerful road car, the V10-powered Carrera GT.

The so-called Metzger engine — named after the motorsport engineer responsible for its original design — eschews the direct injection of Porsche’s newer 3.8-litre engines for an older, sequential injection system.

It also uses the latest Borg Warner turbochargers, producing 1.6bar of pressure instead of the old GT2’s 1.4bar.

Drive is fed to lightweight 19in forged alloy rear wheels shod with 335/30-profile tyres through a six-speed manual gearbox from Getrag and a mechanical limited-slip differential backed up by recalibrated stability control.

Carbonfibre is used for the bonnet, rear wing and seats, contributing to a 70kg weight reduction that nudges the GT2 RS down to 1370kg, 70kg less than the three-year-old 911 GT2. That gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 453bhp per tonne.

Extra downforce is provided by a 10mm higher rear wing, and an extended front airdam covers the wider front track.

Although it’s not the fastest-accelerating 911 of all time, the rear-drive GT2 RS’s performance is still extraordinary.

Porsche claims 0-62mph in 3.5sec (0.2sec faster than the 911 GT2), 0-124mph in 9.8sec and 0-186mph in 28.9sec. With a traditional 3.44:1 final drive, the GT2 RS is geared to hit 205mph at the redline in sixth gear.

A unique chassis set-up that includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), with variable damping control, also provides added agility.

As an indication of the car’s overall ability, Porsche claims the 911 GT2 RS has lapped the 13-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7min 18sec — 19sec faster than the new 530bhp 911 Turbo S — during recent testing. That time would make the RS the quickest series production car on standard road tyres at the legendary Germany circuit.

The 911 GT2 RS’s public unveiling will be at the Moscow Auto Fair in August. But Porsche projects its limited-volume production run will be accounted for before then.

It won’t be cheap, either. At £164,107, the GT2 RS will cost almost £33k than a regular GT2.

Fully agree with you. They should offer the option to paint this bonnet(maybe they do...)!

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII f'n LOVE IT!!!! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

CGT - you will be missed - this car is THE ultimate Porsche now! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Oh and Martin, i really hope that ugly ... Italia will get slaughtered by this car now...:D

Interesting that it uses the 3.6l unit and not the 3.8l one in the turbo mk2.

The 3.8l of the Turbo Mk. 2 has no 'real' dry sump anymore (u need a oil safe kit to use it on the track :eusa_doh:). AFAIK it was a too big effort to adopt dry sump on the 3.8l unit. I think that's the reason why they use the 'old' Mezger engine on the GT2 RS.

I am feeling a bit cold to be honest, yes it's an absolute monster, but it's not really good looking nor special, must be the GTO effect that's affecting me.
