911 (991) [Official] Porsche 911 (991)

The Porsche 991 is the seventh generation of the Porsche 911 sports car. Predecessor: Porsche 911 (997). Successor: Porsche 911 (992). Production: 2011-2019.
Another 911 in Maria's garage.

Check out these pics. Notice how GORGEOUS the 991 is, and how incredibly crude, harsh, and ugly it makes the GTR look. I'm starting to tire of angular corners and designs again, as they don't tend to always age well, and this is proof positive of that.

that carrera owner has a good taste, I really hate the white with black wheels, but he used 19inch wheels with good wider track spacers. Love that stance !

Thanks for sharing K-A

In comparison the Datsun looks awkward alongside the Porsche:playful:

My pleasure :) That last pic showing the 991 profile from a rear angle and at a distance.... :woot:

I agree about the black wheels. I don't like that look usually either, but the way it's setup on that car just works so nice.

Human: LOL @ Datsun. :D

That GTR still looks pretty good imo ;)

But yeah the 911 looks 10 times better...

I drove a 991 911 today. Unfortunately it was an ugly a$$ Cabrio (no comparison in looks and experience to sitting in a hardtop with that beautiful 911 roofline IMO), and it was AWESOME!

It's been so long since I've driven in a Porsche, I honestly heard that unique engine note amplified from behind my ears and kept thinking "why is it so loud right behind me?!".... duh, Porsche: An exclusive rear engine experience. :D I forgot about how it truly felt to be in that unique engine-cabin configuration.

I haven't driven such a small car in so long, it felt a little "vulnerable" to me at first, I just feel safer in larger cars. Being so used to heavy, floaty Luxury cars or Sedans in general, it felt so toy-ish, like a go-cart. So much fun, so nimble. SUPER tight chassis, handles like it's on rails (this was a Base Carrera C2 with PDK but no suspension ugrades).

The car really fly's, Porsche's 350 HP is more than exhilarating enough for the real world, and the PDK is SUBLIME in shifting. Super quick, precise, and downshifts are marvelous and controlled. 350 HP in Porsche world is engineered so supremely well, it feels like 400++++ from other manufacturers.

The engine note was AWESOME, and very loud in cabin (in a good way) when you step on it. I've heard the Carrera S sounds deeper and better, and louder, and has an available button which opens up the exhaust to make it even LOUDER. I can only imagine how incredible and racey that must sound, considering how the Base sounded.

My only "knock" to the drivetrain would be maybe a little lack of low end torque when you step on it right off the line. I'm sure I could have manually shifted it to get a better low end feel, but with it just in "D", and the Sport button pushed, off the line, it felt like the first gear or two were very long and it had to wind up quite a bit.... but when it did, it was hauling a$$.

7:37,9 - Hot Lap with the new Porsche 911 Carrera S

The Nürburgring remains the ultimate test of man and machine. The new 911 Carrera S and racing driver Timo Kluck mastered this test with a very distinctive result: a lap time of 7:37,9 minutes. Enjoy one lap in the green hell.

Absolutely incredible!!!

This red testcar with bucket seats reminds me of the one AutoBild Sportscars uses in their Performance Grand Slam-series. Maybe this laptime comes from their upcoming test (available on January 2013).

I doubt it. The video is on Porsche's own Youtube channel, and there's no mention of accreditation to Auto Bild, or anyone else. Just a mention of the driver, Timo Kluck.

This time of 7:37, is quicker than the 7:44 got by Sport Auto for the same spec car in August. 7:37 puts it within a couple of seconds of Sport Auto's time for the GT-R. Porsche delivered on their promise to make up the deficit to the cut-price Jap supercar. The GT3, Turbo versions and so on, will deliver the coup de grâce. The 991 is sensational engineering. End of.

Sounds reasonable. ;) I hope AutoBild SC will ask Sascha Bert for the Ring-run this time as well - it would be interesting to see how he compares to Porsche's factory driver.
