Polestar 1 [Official] Polestar 1

The Polestar 1 is a 2-door plug-in hybrid sports car marketed by Polestar, a brand of Volvo Cars. It was the first car produced by the company since becoming an independent car manufacturer in June 2017. Based on Volvo's Concept Coupé from 2013, the Polestar 1 is built on the Volvo Scalable Product Architecture platform and is powered by a hybrid powertrain, using a front-mounted engine and two electric motors at the rear. A limited production run of 1,500 cars took place over three years, from 2019 to 2022. Production took place in Chengdu, China, where the company's first production facility was built.
until someone discovers ways to reduce the weight of the batteries, in my opinion we returned to the stone age, where cars like this one to be able to function and handle as what any respectable ICE did, must weigh like a cargo ship and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars

This is an hybrid. Hybrids are obsolete. You are using an obsolete example to draw far reaching conclusions.

If this had been a regular production Volvo coupe it would have been a much better proposition. As it stands it's a complete yawn for the money. Volvo and their 4-cylinder only practice is also a complete bore and takes them off any list for consideration for me.

Very eye pleasing, inside and out. An exercise in cohesive, elegantly minimalistic exterior design. The proportions and congruency cannot be reproached. Nothing contrived. Thomas Ingenlath and his team have created a stylistically very compelling car.
Agreed, saw this car in Geneva and it is absolutely stunning. It was my pick of the show that year.

That second picture is unreal. Any other car of nowadays is over styled and not as elegant. Wow.

I may be going out on a limb...but...: Next to Porsches' 992 Carrera models, the Polestar 1 is, in my opinion, the sharpest, most visually enticing 2 door 2+2 currently available. Yes-I actually find it more compelling, in terms of exterior design, than the Bentley Continental GT or the Aston Martin DB11/DBS Superleggera.

And it makes the BMW 8 series look a right mess.

Germanys' "Volume Premium Three" (Audi, BMW, M-B) currently offer nothing in the broader segment of 2 door 2+2 automobiles that compare favorably in terms of exterior design, in my opinion.

Surprisingly the Coupe design has lasted well considering it started life as the Volvo Coupe Concept for the IAA 2013.

The exterior design of the Polestar 1 is testimony to the adage "less is more". Nothing contrived, no superfluous tinnef. And yet so precisely penned that the prudent implementation of swagelines in tandem with a very articulate dialogue between concave and convex surfacing are highly effective in firmly arresting the eye. A car that goes far beyond being simply "pretty". Its' design paradigm promotes the attribute of timelessness more adeptly than perhaps ANY other 2 door, 2+2 GT coupe, save (as previously mentioned) Porsches' various 911s over the years. Thomas Ingenlaths' team have created a genuine object of automotive design art.

I agree. The mk1 Audi A5 - especially the S5 still looks very beautiful. I saw one last week and had to remind myself that it a 12 year old design. Similar to the Polestar it has a clean design but a swooping shoulder line that accentuates the rear hips.

And it makes the BMW 8 series look a right mess.
Sometimes more is more and the Supra is a good example. It’s borderline over designed but looks awesome in the metal.

When it comes to a common objective (yet in different ways) of representing exquisite automotive design, the Polestar I, the Lexus LC500 and Porsches' 992 are, in my opinion, automobildoms current triumvirate.

If I would rate the current crop of GTs in terms of looks, this car would be very close to my favorite at the moment, the Lexus LC. The Polestar 1 looks timeless, sleek and elegant. It's one of those cars that will be still looking fresh after 10 years on the road.

Although a segment of diminishing significance in terms of unit-sales, it is the 2 door GT(esque) contestants that have been delivering a number of design home runs as of late. The Porsche 992 Carrera, the Lexus LC500, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, the Ferrari Roma...and the Polestar 1.
