Polestar 1 [Official] Polestar 1

The Polestar 1 is a 2-door plug-in hybrid sports car marketed by Polestar, a brand of Volvo Cars. It was the first car produced by the company since becoming an independent car manufacturer in June 2017. Based on Volvo's Concept Coupé from 2013, the Polestar 1 is built on the Volvo Scalable Product Architecture platform and is powered by a hybrid powertrain, using a front-mounted engine and two electric motors at the rear. A limited production run of 1,500 cars took place over three years, from 2019 to 2022. Production took place in Chengdu, China, where the company's first production facility was built.
Wow it is exactly the concept as it was. But why no Volvo? And secondly this car needs to play in the 4er/A5/C-Klasse segment. I can't see it in the top end of the spectrum.
Of course this is largely about brand-perception.
What if this car really is able to stand alongside similarly-priced vehicles; It'll be a big deal for the Volvo brand.
In a few years we may look back and laugh that we didn't treat Volvo more seriously.

Sorry Volvo, but you're not fooling me. This is just a coupé version of the S90 and 150,000 bucks for it? Bye bye Volvo. Nice knowing you.

Clearly punching way above it's weight.

I understand it has close to 600hp (on paper), but they ought to have positioned it as a legit 450hp E-Class competitor not in the realm of an S-Class/8er/LC rival.

I like it very much. It's clean and unembelished to the point that it's an art form in its own right.
Interestingly, despite the eschewing of traditionally recognised best practices for proportion, this car somehow plays to its strengths in other areas of design. A rather engaging thing to look at.

Yes I must agree with Scott (I know right), but yes this should have just been a Volvo Cxx whatever with a hybrid option. Maybe they should contract with Mercedes for a 400hp version of their new I6. This design deserves a real engine and to be more accessible to more people. This lease only shite is whack.

It's a beautiful car for sure.

Well, relatively few people would buy one at £130,000-150,000 (US$170,00-200,000).

There is more to it though, this leasing arrangement will likely become more and more common - it fits with the Global sustainability agenda (United Nations Agenda 2030).

I hate everything about how they're handling this car. I really do. It simply isn't worth that kinda money.

OMG. This car is just gorgeous. I just cannot find any wrong about it. Regarding the price, I sure they are aware of it. That's why they don't sell it. Subscription only. And I think they will launch this car in 2019 because Volvo will produce this car as
C70 (or something else) as well.

They should just badge it a Volvo and mass produce it with the existing drive trains. Because of its highly familiar exterior and interior it doesn’t make a strong case for itself as a halo car.
