The Passat R36 doesn't carry its proportions well. The bulky front styling and overly long rear overhang on both the sedan and the wagon don't somehow suite the R moniker. The wagon seems the more attractive of the two. The wheels - despite being a sizeable diameter - seemed to be overwhelmed by the mass of (in this case rather blue) sheetmetal.
Interior is a bit too tinseltown for my tastes - hey I prefer metal inlays to wood but this is taking the recycled baking foil theme a little too far.
So, is the engine yet another development of the 15 degree narrow angle VR design?
