the interior door panels of this gen's Mercs are a downgrade from what has come before.

also M-B is not the only guilty party in this department. I am looking at you, BMW.

quality I don't know about, but I don't think the design of the new E's door looks nice, something you'd expect to find on an Audi A1

I dig the new E-class. After watching more videos, I have come to the conclusion that I think it looks even better than both the C-class and S-class, with its different front and rear lights and unique Superscreen dash.

The close up camera shots in this video bring out all the positive and likable details.

I wonder why the panel gap in the bonnet was necessary. It could have easily extended all the way to the grille

Sometimes due to issues of flexibility and production costs and the one that sounds the most to me is because when changing the model, shut lines are added or removed that are an integral part of the new design when they are and when they are not, in the W213 they were not there.
It is true that sometimes they seem forced but it does not seem to be the case here.

Why that massive real state between end of grill and star?

Love the profile and proportions on this W214. Hate the amoeba shape of the headlights, the black trim around the grill, the forementioned space betwe grill and star, and FFS, those tacky as hell stars graphics on the rear lights 🤦🏻‍♂️

I think that's because the hood is no longer a clamshell design.

Those were the days when the grill and bonnet were connected and could open together.

So is the painted part on top of the grille made of plastic? The panel gap is required because it can’t be made of metal?
