A6/S6/RS6 Official: New Audi A6 (C7)

I feel pretty much the same way as alot of the above folks do. It looks good, great front overhang (esp. for an Audi, who has been notorious with big front overhangs), cohesive design but very predicatable design. I appreciate a hexagonal grille which gives it a more casual feel versus their more upright 4-point grilles. I do wished they had integrated the screen and wrap-around dash as the current A6 has one of the best interiors in terms of aesthetics AND ergonomics. Since it's on the MLP platform, I expect great performance and a quality ride, especially when coupled with the supercharged V6.

In terms of ranking designs in this class, it goes something like this....
1) 5er...IMHO, perfection on 4 wheels
2) A6....beautiful albeit predicatable. Beautifully crafted interior.
T-3) E-class...nice profile, questionable from some angles, NEEDS AMG sorts-pack to make it acceptable.
T-3) Infiniti M....Nice overall package with its own character. Wished with was slightly toned town.

As I said before, it's an A7 in saloon form, the interior is a basic carbon copy of the A7 which in my mind is a really good thing because it's the best interior design and the most adventurous of the big three. But like all Audis it takes the big rims to look great, where as with a Merc the 18" don't take anything away from it's overall appearance, so in my opinion you need to factor that in to the purchase when considering one of these. Also look towards the level of standard kit of the A7 to gauge how it will size up against the competition because it will be similar.

P.S.
I think most here are favourable about it's design and appearance from these few photos, more so that the reaction of the A7 and just think how much people's opinion changed with it after seen in the fresh. :usa7uh:

Really Footie? It lloks like a nice place to be, but the best of the big three, I don't think so. It's too flat and doesn't have any bulk. I might as well be sitting in a Citroen C1.

Look it's a handsome car for sure - the front overhang is kept commendably short, the wheelbase lends an air of exclusivity, the silhouette is fittingly elegant and the wheel to metal ratio is great...

...but, I can't help feeling that it's an incredibly safe design from Audi. Verging on dull. That's all... just dull. Lovely interior of course but saying that about an Audi is like saying that Katy Perry has a nice rack. It's painfully obvious.

Edit: I see that Jimmy has already pretty much said what I was feeling.

I couldn't have said it better. This design is definitely dull, though it is elegant and nice and a safe option for Audi. I think it is less dull, however, from the current A6 design that is out there. I have to tell you, I really do not like the current A6 design since it looks depressed, boring, and just lacking any passion.

It looks good, not many surprises. Clean design. But still , the new 5-series is the best looking car in this segment.

Awesome! Once again, A6 looks just right in size & dimensions for a decent premium family sedan! Absolutely loved it. :usa7uh:

We are each entitled to our opinions, I respect yours so why not return the same back. :t-cheers:

audi is stuck in boring land. handsome and refined, but boring and predictable. that's where some people like to be.

This car would present me with a dilemma if I was looking to buy a car in this segment....well between this and the 5er at least. Although it continues on Audi's evolutionary design path, it is easily the most resolved 4 door in Audi's portfolio - looks way more higher end than the previous generation, better proportioned and extremely handsome/elegant.

As recent Audi's tend to look better IRL than press pics - I am sure this will be no exception.

PS. I like the way Audi and BMW are producing their cars 'same sausage different size' albeit with slightly different cues as oppose to trying to hard to differentiate their models i.e current gen Mercedes and previous gen Banglized BMW's.

It looks like Audi made good job on A6..I like it :usa7uh:
Exterior is quite nice, interior is just spot on great..really,there is not many things that I don´t like about this car.
BUT...Now A6 looks like A8 should look in the first place, don´t you think :eusa_thin?

VERY NICE if entirely predictable.

The interiors are looking less German with every new model. They're becomming very stylised and a patchwork of components with lashings of silver here, wood there, plastic elsewhere.

^ Have you sat in or driven the A7 yet?

If not then I suggest tried it soon because the interior finish is a step up from the past A6 and very close to that of the A8. Given that the two (A6 and A7) are using the same basic interior I believe it will continue Audi's reputation as providing the best interior in class.

Is it really a new platform (or modules as they call it in Ingolstadt)?
The side profile is so close to the previous one's.
I do not trust VW Group anymore. After the Golf, Touran, Passat, Conti GT and to a lesser extent the Touareg, this looks more like a comprehensive facelift than a clean sheet design.

Even if the sheetmetal isn't the same, the doors' overall design is virtually similar. The side windows look almost exactly the same too!!

I do not understand the strategy of the brand. This cars looks already dated because this design has been one the streets for about 2 years now with the A4. Yes, the head and tail lamps are new and full of LEDs but even BYD is already using LEDs (just for ornament for the time being).

What are Da Silva & Sielaff thinking? A new car that look so suspiciously close to the old one is a dubious design strategy.
The A6 design isn't a design icon à la PORSCHE 911. It was influental 10 years ago but now, it's just dull dull & dull.

Someone please tell Da Silva that he needs to hire Donckerwolke at Audi NOW!

AUDI needs change!

Design wise, BMW still rules.

I don't think Donkerwolke will blindly obey after what he did to him :D

It's entirely new, built on a stretched MLP platform so the front wheels have moved forward from that of the last A6. But I can under why you would feel this way as the two design haven't changed dramatically, its evolution rather than revolution which is something BMW have mastered more than most.

Can't wait for the Avant pics (tomorrow?). Hopefully the rumors are false and it will indeed make it to the US. If not I don't know what I'll do next...no S4 Avant...no A5/S5 Sportback...A7 is too $$$.

:t-hands:

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
