Hi

Anyone know if the new motor 2.0Tdi Bi-Turbo will be avaiable in 2008 jan ?

No it's not. Huck rarely does good impresions of Audis. His TT for example was a big failure.

I think he did a good job. His imitation is very similar to the real deal, except for details like the LEDs, tail lights and the front bumper. Overall he had a good idea what Audi had planned for us.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

I agree. There is really nothing wrong with the car inside or out, it just doesn't break any new ground for an Audi. The car looks pretty big too. I'll still hold final judgement until I see it (and the A/S5) in person.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

I agree with the both of you. I really don`t see any movement and progress in the design work, even though I`m not totally against it.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

I have some questions equipement vise.
  • Does anybody know if LED rear lights will be avaliable as an option (like in A6 avant)?
  • LED daylight running lights are avaliable with xenon plus option. What will replace the LEDs on regular lights?
  • Whitch engines will also come in the future?
  • When (if) S-tronic (DSG) will be avaliable?
Thanks for the answers

Depending on the version, the headlights vary in a number of details. A strong visual impression is made by the “wing” elements in electrodeposited chrome, which differ considerably according to whether halogen or xenon plus headlights are specified. With halogen headlights, the wing has a second shorter element, whereas with xenon plus it takes the form of a single continuous curve.
A standard feature common to both systems is the daytime running light – one of the many safety technologies that Audi has pioneered. In the halogen headlights, which are rated for an operating distance of well over 100,000 kilometres, it is provided by bulbs with a rating of just 13 watts. The xenon plus units, in which mercury is no longer used, each incorporate 14 white light-emitting diodes, with a total consumption of no more than nine watts.
If anyone wants to know

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Very interesting cut-away illustration of the new clutch, gearbox and off-set differential arrangment. In this case we're looking at a Multitronic CVT transmission (the linked plate chain and variator components are unmistakable) for a front-wheel drive car.

I'm amazed at the lengths that Audi has gone to in engineering this new layout. It must have cost a fortune. One thing is seemingly apparent; this new package appears to be designed from the outset to accomodate any one of the many transmission types that Audi offers including the S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox in combination with longitudinally engineered quattro.

This is a good thing as DSG is currently solely the preserve of Audi cars with transversly located engines and transmissions. So I anticipate that it ought not to be too long before we see S-tronic quattro A4's. Now that's quite a unique and compelling combination. Mmm... bolt that on to an uprated (circa 165 kW???) 2.0T engine and that's some package!

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

This new A4 is really looking good. The subtle, understated elegance of the design is not as evolutionary as most in the know would suggest. At face value, sure, it does look like an evolution of the B7 but then, look a bit closer; the proportions, the angles, the wheelbase, the ride height.

Yes, an A4 in every respect but an altogether beefier, classier, more robust and more self-assured design than pundits of the other two German brands are prepared to admit. It's all grown up now.

There's a poll elsewhere on this forum surveying the 3 compact execs. The Merc C-Class is leading by some margin, the benchmark 3 Series (the car I voted for...) is next and the A4 trailing in a rather distant third. What that poll doesn't truly reflect is how close the B8 A4 actually runs the other two in the desirability stakes.

In SA the new C-Class is currently killing the 3er in the sales department but that's because of Merc dealers rather hefty order books. Once the back order rush settles and the new A4 comes on to the market here, I reckon it's going to give the 3er and C-Class a run for their money like they've never seen before. It's got premium product written all over it. And, sadly for some (e.g. Volvo, Lexus, Honda, Alfa, Subaru and so on) that's exactly what sells in this segment.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Do i smell some sarcasm here? :D

:t-cheers:

No Tycoon, not at all. Am serious, she will be delivering the kids to school so she needs a safe spacy ride. Plus, it has the great design. For me, a RWD BMW or X6 ... nothing else. :D I luv Audis but I don't have the "desire" to own one like I do with BMWs.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Any info about the new engine 2.0 Bi-Turbo Diesel ?

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

it really is quite handsome, just a bit underpowered.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
