The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
The configurator in Germany lists the Mercedes-Maybach S 500/550 4Matic now. MBUSA might offer it in the USA to battle those nasty snowstorms in the North East? :)

Dear or dear. You would never see a Ghost or Phantom slumming it with a MINI countryman or a BMW 5er in the same showroom.
Do they not have the specialist Maybach areas in the US as they have in Germany?

I'm sure BMW is looking over enviously at the number of TOP END S-class's MB is shifting, even if they are sitting next to an A-class on the showroom floor, while they themselves continue to faff around their plans for the upper end segments.

I think MBUSA is waiting to see how strong demand is for the S600 AND how many customers and livery companies in the MID and Northwest/east PASS on the S600 because of it not having 4Matic. If the money customers scream loud enough the Maybach S550 will be here in no time.

Well in a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Germany, Maybach has it is own sales area. It was unusual to see it placed with the GLA et all when it is an entirely different story elsewhere.
Thanks for the S-Klasse comment but BMW are actually pleased that their new 7er offers far more innovative technology and is considerably lighter than the S-Klasse. As for the upper segment Rolls-Royce is doing very nicely as the Rolls-Royce Dawn although not seen publically is part sold out. They don't have to worry about Maybach or the S-Klasse because no one is downgrading.

That will sell well with the plutocrats in DC, NYC, Chi- and Bean-town. Only the Bentley FS offers AWD at this price point, so it's Maybach's for the taking.

At least two more Mercedes-Maybachs are destined for the U.S. according to CEO Steve Cannon? :)

An S550 plug-in hybrid is due in the spring along with the Mercedes-Maybach S600, and they will be followed by at least two more Maybach versions, said Steve Cannon, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA.

Cannon said Mercedes doesn't intend to turn the S class into a subbrand, but believes there's a market for a family of vehicles in the $100,000-plus category.

Seriously? What far greater tech does the 7-Series offer over the S-Class? Hell if anything the 7 is the one that is trying to catch up with all it's S-Class like features from the suspension to interior fragrances. We have yet to see how much lighter the 7 is at this point.

We get the same revelation in different variations on every thread reagrding the S-Class. S-Class criticism, followed by an assertion on how the 7 is supposedly far superior and Rolls-Royce praise. We get it.

Its been made clear that for the W222 generation, "Maybach" will be a trim level to re-gauge interest in the ill-fated Maybach brand of last decade. Alpina B6s & B7s sit alongside the 1 & 2 series in showrooms.

Fantastic pics @hannaz and @Wolfgang. :)
I know the majority prefers dark colours at such sedans. But for me this cars don't loose their splendor when they are bright coloured.

I wonder how it is selling here in the U.S. I haven't seen any yet in the rich areas of town.

^How it looks in general with sales figures of more or less stretched limos in the USA? I can remember me I saw such stretched limos (especially Lincoln and Cadillac I believe) very often in Films of the 80th's.Today this cars are a rare sight.

One larger dealer had 14 last week. Just checked in and it's down to 7, and they have 3 more coming in, in transit at present. They are all model year 16 600s. Only 2 left in palladium (792), though. :)

It's long but the length of the car wears the design well. It doesn't look odd and could easily be mistaken for an ordinary S-Class.

Agree on that Centurion, I've seen one S600 MBach in Vienna, few months ago. Also in black, but with 20 inch wheels. It doesn't look much different from the regular S Class, even with all that chrome on the B pillars - they are more subtle in person than in pictures.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
