That is a matter for conjecture.

Afterall, we must remember Mercedes does not set the bar in this niche segment .......even though their marketting department would like you to think they do.

I realise that some Mercedes fans find it difficult to deal with the fact that Mercedes-Benz is not everyone's favourite marque .....or that one or two other manufacturers might sometimes do things a little better than Mercedes.

Agree, we are all entitled to our own view. I think some people are just tired of people saying the Mercedes-Maybach is inferior to the Rolls Royce Phantom. The Mercedes-Maybach is a super luxury version of the S-Class and it is plain for all to see. I think we all know by now that the Mercedes-Maybach was not conceived to be a direct competitor to the Phantom and should not be seen as such. The Phantom will definitely remain the more exclusive of the two and possesses a presence and a sense of occasion that the Mercedes-Maybach cannot match.

To me, the Mercedes-Maybach is superior to the Bentley Continental and Mulsanne in more ways than one. The standard S-Class already rides even better (i know from experience), drives better, is much more advanced, and has more toys and kit. If you are so stubborn, insistent I mean, that the Mercedes-Maybach is just a glorified S-Class. Then why can't you see the Bentleys are just glorified and overpriced VW Phaetons?

Super-lux S-class (Mercedes-Maybach) a welcome improvement on the previous standalone Maybach IMHO. Love what M-B has done to the Airliner - 1st Class type designed rear seats and materials used looks ever so inviting. Well done Stuttgart, well done indeed!

That said and in all respect the rear benches in an RR Ghost still has my behind written on them! I adore the Ghost and hope or shall I rather say wish I could retire owning such an astonishing piece of hand crafted art.

Just found out both the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 and the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 are now included in the LWB configurator.

Mercedes-Maybach S 600 in standard trim for the German market, 19" double spoke rims (10R)

Mercedes-Maybach S 500 in standard trim without any options, German market, 19" multispoke rims (11R)

The RR ghost definitely looks more Royal than the S class-Maybach. The RR badge is far more exclusive as well as the exterior design (S class - features and size = C class), and the interior is handcrafted. IMO its a more attractive option of two in the price category.

A comparo with three V12 avatars of new S-Class; Maybach S600, S600 & S65 AMG. I feel Maybach's trim is a mix of S600 & S65.

S65 AMG any day not liking the Maybach it looks regular for me. S65 AMG has the looks and presence best S class to date imo or should I say best in its class.
