I agree, it oddly looks better than the standard model, perhaps the two-tone paint helps to cover that black surround. Great new wheel design as well. Overall it’s a nice update. Wish they would stop adding Maybach logos to every f*cking corner, as if people can’t tell what it is.

I can't imagine that big thirsty V12 will be a particularly big seller. Probably not worth the development effort. Not sure it's quite as simple as just dropping it in the engine bay, but I could be wrong

I suppose that it is possible to delete the concepts of "restraint", "subtlety", "uncontrived, effortless elegance" from the neuro-perceptual hard drive. Lucrative for Maybach, it would seem.

Buying one of these cars serves no purpose other than to show off how rich you are.
Otherwise why buy one over a regular S class?

Rich people like to say they have class, but really. They don't. False modesty irritates me much more than accepting what you are.

I disagree, I am very shy, I don’t like to seek attention.

More luxurious interior, comfier suspension, more space in the back.

Even the difference between the GLS and GLS Maybach is surprisingly big.

I'm inclined to agree. Although I imagine that other factors may be involved as well.

But don't mind my ramblings. The appreciation of "as slealth the wealth as possible" is an attribute that many old German folks like me share. Less can be so much more.

In addition, my perception of what a confidently affluent person should drive was anchored decades ago in the form of automobiles such as the series I Jaguar XJ6, BMW 2800CS and FIAT 130 coupe. I guess I just don't "get" alot of the flashy, ostentatious shit going on in automobildom nowadays. Expensive cars per se are absolutely fine. Taycan Turbo..I'd be fine and dandy with one of those. Or a very tastefully spec'd W214. Not to mention a 992.2 GT3 Touring.

If you want to drive the most luxurious cars, you have to live with the blingy exterior.

That’s the price you have to pay.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
