X-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz X-Class

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class (W470) is a pickup truck that was sold by Mercedes-Benz. Unveiled at a world premiere in Cape Town, South Africa in July 2017, the pickup took its chassis from the Nissan Navara and employed many Mercedes-specific features and technologies, including some engines not shared with the Navara. It first went on sale in late 2017. Production of the X-Class was halted in May 2020 due to slow sales.
It's simply not good enough. Depth & inspiration of design as well as connection to heritage is weak. It will only do well because it's a big fish in a small pond. SAD!

That gear selector is do 1980.... Really poor interior. As long as it will sell MB will put their badge on it.

I am not versed in markets outside of the US so I can't argue whether it's worth spending more money something that is, at its heart, a very utilitarian vehicle. Especially if that market also offers the Navarra.

But I'll say this, I like the tartan/plaid seats

There needs to be more cars offering plaid or houndstooth seating options.

So far it looks like a damn embarrassment.

The front end is attractive, the profile should have been differentiated from the Navara in some way even if it meant changing the window line of the rear door, the non LED rear lights look pathetic in the pictures we have seen so far as does the interior.

What does it offer that the any of it's competitors don't? Certainly not a premium cabin. It looks toy like. The Amarok looks far more masculine and robust internally.

It's plainly a Navara with a Merc face graft. The interior is laughable and quite hideous - facelifted Amarok cabin murders this. Sadly this may well turn out to be the new poster child for entitled bigots with more access to credit than credibility. Coming soon to hog a fast lane near you.

Mercedes Benz have GOT to AMG this thing - introducing the new Mercedes AMG X43.

It seems decent for what it is. However what I see driving everybody's opinion was the virtue signalling from Wagoner etc...
Of how it wiill be the Mercedes of the commercial pick up market meaning luxury, premiumness and the Teutonic image a Mercedes illustrates. If it is a luxury contender? Why are they not exporting to the World most afinite luxury markets like The USA or even China? Or is it because it's a rebadged Nissan? And a mediocre one at that.
If they based it on the GLE then yes it could be a more defined product but in the end it's a model that was developed quickly and entirely cost effective. It's nothing else and nothing more.

Perhaps we should take off and nuke the thing from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

We've reached a point where there aren't any bad cars in the market. Anything you buy has a good enough engine, a good enough chassis and an acceptable interiors, so using words like "horrible", "absurd" and "ridiculous" is, pretty much, an exaggeration.

But what MB did with the X-Class is actually horrible, absurd and totally ridiculous.

The interior is simply unacceptable for anything, the engine choices come straight out of the Navara and the similarities between the three cars (I'm counting the Renault variant as well) are plain obvious to even an untrained eye.

As much as I like the idea of an MB pick-up, this is not the way to go.

A major cock-up, which I am curious to see how Mr. Wagener will describe design-wise. I'm guessing words like "visually inspiring" and "sensually arousing" will be used to describe a Japanese workhorse. Pfft...

He said it was "a radically new approach to the design of pick-ups...", and I think he also said the pick-up perfectly embodies the Sensual Purity design language... hot and cool, beautiful..

Never would I have thought to see a pickup truck from MB. That interior isn't MB quality indeed.

He was using this language for Nissan's designers, or for the intern who was tasked with slabbing a couple of A-Class headlights into the Navara fascia?

The concept seemed so much more promising but this is easily the worst MB product i've seen from the time I joined this forum. I thought it would be hard to beat the R class but this is a new low for MB.

Yeah...this is pretty bad...enough have been said about this abomination already.
