C-Class (W204) Official Mercedes-Benz W204 C-Class Discussion Thread

The Mercedes-Benz W204 is the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The W204 platform was also used for the E-Class Coupé (C207). Model codes: W204 (sedan), S204 (station wagon / estate), C204 (coupé). Production: March 2007 – March 2014 (sedan), February 2007 – March 2014 (station wagon), 2011–2015 (coupé). Model years: 2008–2014, 2012–2015 (coupé)
<<The new issue of Car magazine is saying that the C-Class gets all new direct-injection turbocharged engines one year after they're introduced. I think MBUSA might be waiting for the 2009 model year to offer 4-Matic so they don't have to certify the short-run 2008 models for 4Matic. Just a guess. >>

CAR (I think) also said last year that the direction injection 3.5 would have 292hp which seems to have faded away.

What I am really unhappy about is that the MBUSA website says the 3.5 engine won't be available in the "Luxury" model. Which I have a deposit on now. I sent MBUSA a hot email telling them that I have no interest in faux carbon fiber or aluminum foil inside and that equipping their top C with only the small engine would be a deal breaker for me. I also complained about not offering the diesel engine just as an afterthought, since the rest of the planet can order it. I discussed this with the new car sales manager at my dealer who agreed with me that this was such a bonehead idea that it just can't be true.

So I got a phone call about a week later (I wasn't home, sorry to say) and all they had to say was that the diesel wasn't available in the C.

Not surprised.

It could be that Merc is still designing the V6 powerplants for more power since 292 is still not quite what everyone else is making. Also I think it was Mercedes (Actaully, it could have been BMW as well) that said they would try not to launch new engines with new vehicles as it could be problematic. This allows them for more test miles. :usa7uh:

wow it looks super hot on that video..
the rear looks surprisingly hot in real life action

Hi Guys

Just received my official UK brochure for the new C

Here are just a few details unique to the UK specification cars:

LINES:

SE equivalent to the CLASSIC

ELEGANCE

SPORT equivalent to AVANTGARDE with AMG sports Package.

The C280, C350 and C320 CDI come with 7G-Tronic as standard

All other specs. remain the same so far.

The price list and full brochure comes out in April and the car will be officially launched on June 14 2007.

I don't think I can't call it a baby S. The S-class rear is more muscular looking than the C's rear which looks pretty bland IMO. :t-hands:

Fair Enough, but IMO, whether it does or does not look like a S-Class, this W204 is hot in its own right!!

This is true. I've read that a few times over the years, that MB doesn't like to introduce new engines at the same time as a new models because or reliability concerns, in short way too much "stuff" being put out at once. Come to think of it looking back it has only happened a few times: The W221 introduced a new V8 and a new model and so did the R129 SL back in 1990, the 5L V8 was brand new as was the SL. I can't think of any other time where a totally new model and a totally new came at the same time. New engines usually come during facelift or when a new model (like the W221 recently) introduces a new engine then it migrates to the older models. Was the I6 in the W124 300E a brand new engine?

Edit: The current SLK also debuted a new engine, the 3.5L V6 along with a totally new model, forgot about that one.

Yabbut, the 3.5 is hardly new , now. Besides, MB has said that the new C has had a huge number of test miles already. Still smarting from the early W203 and W211 warranty claims, no doubt.

"Engineered like no other car", they claimed. Driving an '01 C320, I know what that really means.

June 15?? I am in tears.

The 3.5L isn't new and even though next year's engines are likely based on the 3.5's basic guts, it is likely so full of new tricks and so heavily revised that they didn't want to rich launching the new C with so much new hardware. Mercedes' reliability and quality is more imporant than anything else with this new C. I can't stress that enough.

I'm hoping the 3.0L will kick out around 270hp and the 3.5L will be at 320hp. That would make for some nice C300 and C350 Sports! Question is will they be turbocharged in addition to direct injection.

C-Class Coupe

My subscription copy of Auto Motor und Sport came today and in it is a half-baked road test article of a C350 Sport. The car was dark gray with a gray and gray interior and looked awful. All that aluminum trim inside didn't help any, either. I will not mention the wheels.

Their website has a series of photos of the new C-Coupe.

US intro date delayed

My dealer sales guy told me today that they were informed yesterday, Feb.19, that the W204 now will not be available until September.

The sound you hear is me, tearing my hair out. Fat lot of good it did, putting a deposit down in January. This is all the doing of the geniuses at MBUSA, no question.

Damn ! I know it's off topic but I just realized this thread has damn near 900 replies and off 71,000 views! This has to be the thread of all threads!:eusa_clap

and here is the explanation why.
Our member Vivaki was the first to show us pics on the new C-class here at GCF. The news were spreading all over the net, to carblogs and other carboards and links and images were directed to GCF.
Many many people went to this board and read the Mercedes threads. In one day we got 80 new members and many new guests watching the threads.

Thanks to Vivaki this carboard got tons of attention :eusa_clap

Yeah that is remarkable. I have posted about GCF on other sites that I'm a member of also in order to get more people over.

And with the A5 being leaked the other day that should lead to another 80!:eusa_clap

US Mercedes C-Class to get distinct styling from its Euro counterpart

According to an interview that the CEO of Mercedes USA, Ernst Lieb, gave to Automotive News, the recently unveiled 2008 Mercedes C-Class that’ll be available in the US in September will have distinct styling from its European spouse. Although Lieb didn’t give any specific details he noted that style-wise, the US version of the new C-Class will be more “aggressive” than the Euro edition. As with the BMW 3-Series, the 2008 C-Class won’t get any 4cylinder variants in the US market where it'll be solely available with V6, and later on, V8 engines.

Albeit for different reasons, this isn't the first time that US Mercedes' will receive different styling cues than their Euro bro’s. Most of you probably will remember 70’s and 80’s US Mercedes’ like the SEL in the picture on your left with the humongous bumpers and google-type headlamps
