Wow, so no new S for you? What options are you considering once your car has miles on it?

I think, I‘ll skip this one. Options are little, a used W222 with low mileage perhaps. Or a 7er of the current generation.

That's been my experience with the G. It's supposed to be replaced this month after 1.5 years of ownership. Hopefully they've ironed out the issues.

Hopefully the new one has flawless quality in every way and functions like it ought to, Luke.

I didn't think it was possible, but the W223 is better looking that the W222 exterior wise, the interior is where the debate begins for me. That one screen behind the steering wheel and it's lack of integration is the problem.

I would love to see a complete blue interior or a combination of blue/beige like in the E-Class Coupé (also BMW has this combination in the portfolio for example for the 8 series)

A very stunning evolution from the W222 indeed.

I wonder if there will be alternative options for the centre console other than the shiny, scratchy piano black finish. Looks like there's a carbon look finish, and hopefully some timber options are in the making?

I would've thought Mercedes would've taken onboard feedback from the C/E-Class where it was not well received.

The biggest disappointment on the wheels in a long time... 126,140, 220, 221, 222 - I loved them all. But this. I can`t believe my eyes. A huge regress in the interior and the exterior design. Call me troll, call me drama queen, but that's my opinion.

I hope that the center black plastic can change to wood or other quality material because - sorry to say - it is ruins the interior.

I love this light interior with the matching white steering wheel and that fantastic looking brown open pore striped wood panel on the passenger side. Glad to see Mercedes have trimmed the center boss of the new steering wheel in stitched leather on the S-class and the AMG steering wheel is a must on this car. The standard wheel in black shiny plastic just doesnt cut it in this car, it looks a bit cheapskate.

The interior of the new W223 is virtually perfect, it strikes a wonderful balance between modern advancement and classical luxury, but there are a few things which bug me and spoil the overall ambiance.

1) The standard wheel with black shiny spokes looks a little cheap and I would choose the AMG wheel everytime. It should be the standard wheel.
2) I wish the lower center console could have the same wood trim as the gorgeous upper dash instead of black shiny piano plastic/wood which makes it look cheap and is a finger print warzone.
3) The drivers instrument screen looks like a little bit of an afterthought just stuck on the dash. I know its supposed to give the impression its free floating but it really looks odd and then its made worse with the huge hole for the HUD at the back.
4) The drivers screen and the screens on the back seat look old fashioned with thick black besels, Why cant Mercedes introduce slim beseled screens like the latest smartphones and make the screens look slimmer with a squared off edges instead of rounded edges.

To be honest looking at the seats and door panels on the new S-class it looks fantastic, even better than the new RR Ghost in my honest opinion. The only interior that beats the S-class interior in this segment is the Bentley Flying Spur. Its cabin is the best on any luxury car.

That design of the door handles looks very, very bad: that space looks narrow and fingers will rub against the leather that wraps the door panel -> likely to lead to nasty signs of wear.

Having watched several promo videos I haven't come across a justification for a huge screen.

So far there hasn't been a demonstration that shows the exploitation over the additional real estate over an MBUX equipped infotainment with a smaller screen.

Both beautiful vehicles, however the dead on rear is the only angle where I question my allegiance to the W223, though I suspect even that will change in person.

Personally I believe the Sclass looks best and most traditional with vertical tail lights. However I am open to being convinced by the new hoaizontal ones in perfect.

I agree with everyone about the main driver's screen, wood options for the center console below the screen, instead of that black plastic and I thought we saw such an option already? I also agree about the steering wheel, that black plastic one should be stricken from production. More leather interior colors too, I would love to see the W223 get in on a few of the G-Class' "manufaktur" options. Come on Mercedes don't pander on price, people will pay through the nose for the right (i.e. stunning) options. Now the real party begins, real life outside pics, first drives/test drives, and then the AMG and Maybach models. I'm hoping the V12 gets some real refinements and that the Maybach finally gets some real customization (like the full manufaktur catalogue like the G), interior materials, leather colors, exotic wood, and it would be nice if it had different seats, grille design and exclusive wheels. The rear lights don't even bother me now, that driver's screen bothers me more than anything now.

door panels on the new S-class it looks fantastic

This part is one of the first aspects, I want to check, when I see the car irl. Because to me, the door panels don't look good at all and are a step back compared to the door panels of the W222.

I love that our entry level model here in the U.S. is now the S500, not the S450. Great starting point and it leaves the door open for the S450 to return when and if sales slow down in later in the W223's cycle.

I think the vehcile with the carbon trim on the dash has the carbon trim on the centre console, but I haven't seen wood used on the console yet unfortunately. I really hope it's an option at some point.

I'm 100% sure it's a technological masterpiece on 4 wheels, but there's nothing that i like on the car desing wise. To me exterior looks bland, only side profile looks very good. Rear doesn't look like Mercedes at all, and front is a bit unimaginative. Interior is also everything, but Mercedes design wise. It is 100% top notch quality, but not appealing to me.

Regardless, it will have respect from me for what it is in this segment, number 1.
