W220 remains the most underrated 'modern' S-class of all time design-wise. It will age the best when it's all said and done––followed by W222. W126 takes the all-time, all-time crown.

Sure, no problem.
Two reasons:
- the S400d is only available with 4Matic. For several reasons, I don’t want an awd car.
- though more powerful, it still has a I6 engine. If it had a V8, I’d be tempted to invest the extra money, but with more or less the same I6 engine, no.

I didn't get a chance to test drive a 350 but I was impressed with the 400d so ended up getting it. I wish I did test the 350 as there's a significant jump in price. I could've add more options to the car. Thanks for the reply back.

I drove the S400d 4Matic last May. In general, I'm not a diesel fan, but this engine has a lot of power and goes well with the S-Class.

Congratulations on getting a new S🍾. I’ve driven the facelifted W222 350d (with the I6 engine) for almost 56 months now and before that for 4 years the W222 S 350d with the V6. After testdriving a total of 3 W223 S400d 4Matic, I hardly noticed the extra hp and torque, given my driving profile. After all, the S350d already has a torque of 600 Nm. Driving at higher speeds at the Autobahn (200 km/h and upwards) you‘ll notice the extra power of the tweaked I6 of the 400.
Furthermore, a 350 weighs slightly less and there’s less friction because of the absence of 4Matic. Finally, the jump in price was in my case circa € 10.000, of which circa half of it has to be paid for an extra (4Matic) I don’t want; easy choice…

So does the the S350d. Testdrive one and judge for yourself if you need/want the 400d.

Yes, that's what I thought too, that the 350 doesn't run noticeably worse than the 400. It's the same engine at the end of the day.

Driving a GLE400d this week. What a sublime drivetrain you have.

Thank you. I'm picking it up from Factory 56 this April. My foolishness got the best of me so S400d with less features. Oh well....

A snap from last night - it's an absolute beauty

When is the pricing for the S 63 going to be revealed?

Also, when can we expect press drives? Anyone know?

Yes, I am a proud Swiss :)
It's a bit odd. The new gle, launched 30th Jan, prices and order books open across Europe on 14th Feb, just 2 weeks after, yet still no S63. By the time it comes out, it's going to be so close to facelift!
Clicked reply on wrong quote 😂😂 should be on Paganis post!

The W223 cost a lot of money here, even if they are no longer brand new.
Two examples:
- This week an S580 was entered in Autoscout24 with 60,000 km. Price: CHF 155,000.--
- The S400d that I drove last May is said to still cost CHF 147'000.--.
