S-Class (W223) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223)

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan. Body Styles: W223 (standard), V223 (long), Z223 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach). Predecessor: S‑Class (W222). Successor: S-Class (W224) [expected]. Production: 2020- Model years: 2021-
For the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, see Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (Z223)
Mercedes announced a new CW benchmark of 0.22 for the W223 - see their press release.
But that’s not true for all the various base models having classic door handles, because they have a CW of 0.24 or 0.25.
Which means that the new S-class is equal or even worse with respect to aerodynamics than its predecessor.

This (mostly worse as compared to W222) holds also true for:
- weight
- acceleration
- CO2 emission

Hmmmm......:cautious:

Also, on the German configurator, it appears that the MBUX Interieur-Assistent(voice control) can only be selected with black leather trim(maybe it's just a configurator glitch or temporary situation)
Correction: this is not "voice control"(which seems to be a standard feature) but some sort of gesture control system - only works with black leather for now at least..
(google translate)
The MBUX interior assistant supports operation by reacting to body language. If hands approach the doors, he interprets this as a wish to exit and warns if a risk of collision is detected. The direction of your head determines which exterior mirror you want to adjust. You can also control light functions with natural hand movements.

New S-Class in high demand: More than 40,000 orders already received worldwide.

Last year, the S-Class was again the best-selling luxury sedan worldwide with about 60,000 units (-17.2%). The new S‑Class, presented by Mercedes-Benz in September, met with a very strong positive customer response: More than 40,000 orders have been received worldwide, already exceeding the order intake after the sales start of its predecessor.

40,000 orders for a car that starts at over $110,000 USD? Hahaha what competition? The S-Class is and has always been in a league of its own. What surprised me even more was the fact that the W222 sold 60,000 units in its last year of production; I didn't even think that was possible. The S-Class and the G-Class print so much money for Mercedes, it's ridiculous, but I absolutely love to see it.

They already have 40,000 orders. I doubt Mercedes will see it as a mistake.

That is very impressive. And to me, a bit surprising having assumed that customers would take a more "wait and see" stance in the forefront of the EQS presentation.

Hmmm...what do these W/V223 buyers know ?? Is the EQS really that visually unattractive ??

I personally know several people who are considering the w223 and been buying S classes for many years now, or many generations, and haven’t heard of the EQS. Given the styling, the S class is quite modern compared to the competition, but between the two it’s quite conservative. I can imagine the younger wealthy population as the main buyer of the car.

Young people like their rides sit lower rather than an MPV height like thing.

You know what, what is even more impressive is that I doubt these 40k units include the Chinese market, cos the car has yet to been shown to potential buys in China.

More than one third of all saloons of the last generation of the S-Class (model series 222; début 2013) went to China. S-Class customers in China are the youngest with an average age of 40 years. Around the world the S-Class Saloon is predominantly sold in the long wheelbase version: around 9 out of 10 customers opt for the long version of the S-Class Saloon. All in all, since the launch of the generation that is now in its runout phase, more than 500,000 S-Class Saloons have been sold.

Why? Not everyone wants an electric car. Not sure why you guys constantly think everything has to be an EV.

Take this as an example of ”why” Jimmy.
If I have two days of long distance drives in front of me, I’ll drive up to my gass station, fill it with circa 65 lites of fuel in less than two minutes, and I’m settled for the next 1.100-1.200 kilometers. Try do that with an EQS, any BEV for that matter.

So what's the warranty of this thing? 5 years? It better have a 5 year warranty at least.
